The Bejiing Olympics have been beset with protests.
People are upset that their being held in China, a country that oppresses it's citizens.
Does anyone here care? Do you plan to skip watching them?
I've never enjoyed the Olympics myself, but I have to admit I'm surprisingly bothered by the fact they are in China.
The stories I've read about how the government will kill it's own citizens if they uprise at all. The incredible censorship (you're not even allowed to talk about Tianamen Square). It's hard to imagine that in this day and age such an advanced country can still operate in such a fashion.
nope not bothered but probably only because I am uninformed. I don't read much about other places. And I am not an Olympic fan. I just told my husband last night as they flashed the Olympic message about August on NBC that we would probably very active outside during that time- lol

But I don't think protesting the Olympics and assaulting the torch carriers is the right thing to do. That's unfair to every other country that's participating in the Olympics. It's unfair to the athletes who have trained for years to get to this point. I thought the Olympics were supposed to unite countries.
I don't understand why the Olympic committee would pick China.
