I've met Pat Dinezio of the Smithereens, you couldn't meet a nicer guy. Corey Glover of Living Color (Look in my eyes/ what do you see/ cult of personality)- He was cool. I met the Fixx, and they were nice guys trying to believe they were not a nostalgia act.

I met Fee Waybill of The Tubes. He was signing t-shirts and posters at a stand and when I said "Hey Fee, I'm not buying anything, I just want to shake your hand", I think I ticked him off.

I met Ed Hersh of the Black Crowes- I believe their first album came out in '89 so that counts. He was cool. I also met and hung out with Mike Patton and Roddy Bottom of Faith No More (You want it all, but you can't have it). Nice enough guys. We all admitted to early crushes on Stevie Nicks. ("cept maybe not Roddy, I think he bats for the home team if you know what I mean).

Oh in 1982, I had a baseball outside of the Milwaukee Brewers locker room and was trying to get autographs. Only one Brewer came out to sign- Mark Brohard hahaha....who?) but Bud Selig grabbed the ball and signed it. I didn't say anything, but I was mad "Who the %$# wants Bug Seligs autograph?!?!"

Closest thing I EVER got to meeting a star (in the entertainment sense) was at an Autograph session After Broadway's "Grease". Brooke Shields Was Rizzo at this point, & she signed my program...that's about it

Not I was at a Book Signing for Bob Knight. I waited in line for 8 hours to meet him. When I got to him, I told him I was still in the IU Basketball Pep Band (This was about 8 months after he got fired from IU), he said to me (not an exact quote): "You guys Always sounded great, wish I could'a brought you to Tech"...That was SO cool from someone as famous as him (at least in Bloomington) to give a compliment like that, especially knowing he doesn't often give compliments. (I consider this an 80's star cuz he won 2 national championships in the 80's and the 1984 Gold medal in the Olympics)

I met Tom Wopat from Dukes of Hazzard last year at one of the local bars. He was in town singing the national anthem at the Brewers game (which I was at) and performing in a musical show. Nice guy, considering my friend and I pointed at him and screamed. I am easily amused.

aw hey back in the late 80's I saw Dolly Parton getting off of her tour bus when I was walking to Summerfest. She's really short.

Oh and from time to time I see Sammy Llannas from the Bodeans around town at different shows. He's always good for a "hello" and a shot.

On Sunday April 17, the Psychedelic Furs are playing a small club here in Milwaukee (Riggs I need off! please man the mic or set up reruns!). I can't wait. Most artists usually hang out before or after the show, can't wait to have my old cd signed!

I met KC of KC and the Sunshine Band a few years ago. He was performing after an Indianapolis Ice hockey game. I was surprised, he's about 6' 5" but I couldn't believe how much make up he was wearing. It was scary. But he was cool.

Last year at the Indianapolis 500 I met Judge Reinhold and LeVar Burton. They were in the pits watching the race with their wives. Nice people but you can't really carry on a converstion with the cars racing around.

I've partied back stage with Motley Crue and Poison, Ran into Waylon Jennings (litteraly) he was coming out of a truck stop and he wasn't watching where he was going. He was very apologetic. I've met Evel Knievel, Peter Fonda and Hank Williams Junior. They all show up for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally almost every year.

JD, I wouldn't say overboard wild like you would see in the Behind the Music stories, But they sure liked their Liquor!!! In Sturgis there is a camp ground called the Buffallo Chip which is a few hundred acres of pasture with several stages set up for concerts. It was 1990 and my buddies and I drove out there to listen to the concerts from the parking lot (more cow pasture) none of us had any money to actually go in and see the concert so after about 30 minutes of trying to hear the concert we decided to leave. As we drove around one set of cars we noticed 5 older guys 50ish trying to move there car that was blocked in so we 5 guys decided to stop and try to help them.

Analyzing the situation with a car behind them and a van and pick-up nose to nose in front I asked if they had a screw driver or something. The one guy who looked like He was The Don said he had a crow bar? I climbed under the van and worked the cotter pin out of the transmission linkage and put it in neutral and the rest of the team rolled it backwards. The guys were so thankfull they gave us their back stage passes and alcohol bracelets to go in. The Don guy said when you get to the stage tell them your with the Ruso party. We were treated like royalty when we got in... To this day I would like to know who the Ruso's were and thank them for one hell of a party!

Disclosure: pin was put back in linkage and van was fine.

I "met" Tico Torres from Bon Jovi in Little Rock, Arkansas. My friends and I were waiting outside of the backstage area to get in and he came out with this woman and said "We don't want any jailbait," to us. I was 18 at the time and was furious to be called jailbait. He was such a jerk. We turned around and didn't even try to get backstage. We just figured the rest of the guys were like him and weren't worth our time.

I met Loretta Lynn and her husband, Moony, when we lived in Germany and she performed for the troups. She went all out to make them feel like she really wanted to be there and that they were something special. I felt it that night. My dad took me backstage, but he had to carry me because my leg was in a cast. We met Moony first and he gave me a kiss on the cheek, he was a great guy. Loretta Lynn was so friendly. I have loved her music for the longest time and that really was a dream come true to meet her.

I also met the sax player for John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band, though I can't remember his name. They were opening up for Richard Marx and he came out. We had snuck into the hall and the rest of the people were stuck waiting outside the locked doors. We asked if we could go backstage, but he said that was no place for young girls (we were about 16). Instead, he took us into the auditorium and let us watch the sound check. That was really cool.

I was very lucky. I worked at a hotel in Milwaukee and we had many of the Summerfest and the PAC performers stay there. Pointer Sisters were nice, Hall and Oats (however you spell his name) were among the most abnoxious and disappointing people I had ever met. We had all the performers from Festa Italiana. Corey Hart was probably the most shy person I have ever met. He stood in front of me while his Manager checked him in the hotel. He was wearing blue jeans and a jean jacket with the collar up. He kept his eyes down and only whispered when he spoke--he had me escort him to a table in the restaurant, was very gracious.

Not a pop star, but Richard Harris stayed at the hotel while he was doing Excalibur. He was an idol of mine, until I met him. He wanted me as his personal assistant. He would only call me when he was there. All he ate, breakfast lunch and dinner was a plate of lettuce, tomatoes and hot water for his special teas. Had a different set of girls with him nightly. Had I known he was going to Dumbledore I would have paid more attention and asked for an autograph.

In the nineties, met Tom Cruise. Not a nice person. He was very rude and short, short short. I am 6 1" and he maybe came up to my chin. One of the most gracious was Anthony Hopkins. I would never have guessed he was Hannibal.

Wow CP, that's surprising. I would have expected Hall & Oates to be cool. Expecially Hall (Oates I could see being a jerk).

But the biggest surprise is Tom Cruise, I've always heard he's such a nice guy.

You just never know until you meet someone yourself I guess (or get the scoop from a forum member)

Actually I think you got it backwards on H&O. I have been of fan of their music for a long time and have seen them 3 times in concert. Daryl Hall is the one that comes across as being full of himself from everything I have seen and read about the duo. John Oates is much more down-to-earth and does not have the rock star mentality. He has been married to the same women for a longtime(a rarity in that business) and lives with his wife and kids on a ranch in Colorado.

CP - was the one that was rude to you the taller of the two with blond hair? That would be Hall. Oates is shorter with dark curly hair.

Sorry, just came back from travelling. It was the Dark Haired one. And Tom Cruise is really short, not in comparison but in the movies you picture him 6 2"

Truthfully, I did not even recognize him. I was standing 3 feet from him when the golf pro said to Hammer, Have you met Mr. CP? I like an idiot said your name is Hammer, then it dawned on me.

I live in the Palm Springs Area. I play a lot of golf and am a member of a club that is the oldest in Palm Springs. I see many poloticians and celebs, but half the time I don't even know who they are. I had Kurt Russell tee off just in front of me a couple of months ago. Would never have even guessed it was him. He was quite unshaven and wore his ball cap low. I had to be told it was him.
