RE: Favorite driving song?

This is funny. I was just telling my son the other day that I listened to Motley Crue's Shout at the Devil all the way to Paris when I was his age.

Highway Star? Aaaaaaargh! Rock Band flashbacks. I really cannot sing that song well. I think it's because I choke with fury when I hear him say "I seed her".

I usually listen to my flash disk on the way in. It has all of my music on it. I love Fall Out Boy (I'm going through my second teen years) and I'm loving the music I downloaded from Farewell. So I guess my favorite song to listen to while I'm driving is my newest download. I have vowed to never again be trapped in a car with only the O Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack for the whole drive to FLA.

You guys are gonna think I'm weird, but for long drives I love Classical.  It's really about the only time I have to listen to an entire symphony from Brahms, Bach, etc.  smile

I love classical for driving, mainly as sort of a pleasant background music. THey took off the classical station for milwaukee tho.

it was kinda annoying because it was a commercial station, that featured mostly local commercials geared towards old rich white men....

"get effective goiter treatement"

"my honey deserves the BEST caviar..."

" 1 lb ground angus beef only $8.42 a pound..."

I know quite a few people who like to listen to classical when driving. I don't understand it - I can't take more than a few minutes - but I can respect the appeal.

I think the big appeal was the soothing affect after too much YAP YAP YAP YAP from the all hyper stations. BUt the frequency of ads was way bad. I'd be chill after something soothin and then YAP YAP YAP YAP, just like the all hyper stations.

Last month, I went to a symphony that played nothing but Classical music. It was so beautiful and moving!!  But I had to attend it alone.....it seems I'm the only one in my circle of friends and family that truly appreciates it.  They can't understand how I can love Classical just as much as heavy metal.....they think there's something seriously wrong with me. hmm

I like classical music at home, but that's about it. Classical music makes my mind wander too much when driving.

I may have mentioned this before (I'm pretty sure that I have), but I have to sing when I drive and I don't just sing - I get into it. I think the term I used before was that I looked like Joe ****er on speed. It freaks the other drivers out. I love that. I have to have pounding, thumping music while I'm driving. It makes it seem more fun and I have my own private concert going on (at least audibly private). weirdface.gif

I'm like that too Trish. I like to turn it up a little and sing along - even if badly. Sometimes it's a little embarassing when I get busted in the act by other drivers, especially if I have my windows rolled down. ashamed laughing.gif

Well, with some HM groups, there are similarities.  Like Savatage always had a bit of that, and then they did the Transiberian Orchestra thing.  Made sense to me.

And you have a lot of HM artists who are themselves classically influenced - like Ritchie Blackmore or Yngwie Malmsteen, etc.

You're right LS; there are quite a few who are influenced by Classical.  Boy, I wish I lived much closer to you; I'd love to sit down and discuss music with you!!! aww

I love Transiberian Orchestra!!  I've recently come across a few traditional orchestras playing HM music on traditional string instruments....violins, violas, cellos, etc. Metallica seems to be a favorite of many of them.  smile

Yeah, I love it when I have the windows down and I'm going through our little bitty town of 1100 and I have the music pumping and I pass an older person and they turn around with this look of "Dang teenagers!" and see it's someone in their 30's. That look is priceless. biggrin.gif

I like anything upbeat. I HAVE to have something playing on the radio when I am driving.

Yes, that would be fun!  I'm glad you're getting into TSO (Basically watered down Savatage.)    smile.gif
