Subject: Rebate Checks


As you may have heard, each of us will be getting a

tax rebate check to stimulate the economy.

If we

spend that money at Wal-Mart, all the money will

go to China .

If we spend it on gasoline it will go to

the Arabs.

If we purchase a computer it will go to

India .

If we purchase fruits and vegetables it will

go to Mexico , Honduras , and Guatemala .

If we

purchase useless stuff it will go to Taiwan and none

of it will help the American economy.

We need to

keep that money here in America .

The only way to

keep that money here at home is to spend it at yard

sales, since those are the only businesses still in the

US .

I did taxes for a friend of my daughter's this year and thought for sure she was going to receive $600, but for some reason she only received $300.  She was glad to receive anything at all, but she was really hoping for the full amount to help her pay tuition in the Fall.  Maybe she'll get the other half next year.

Me too!  We're not scheduled to receive our's until May 16th, so we'll see what gets deposited.

I know GW was happy that the direct deposit folks supposedly were to start getting there 4 days early a week ago on monday. I guess I woulda thought because I was direct deposit, that maybe by friday I'd see the money. lol I guess not believing it in the first place, the whole thing is like

It depends on what the last two digits of your social are. I was cursed with "80", so I get the last direct deposit of May 16th.

I'll spend most of it on bills anyway, so I'm really trying not to get too excited about getting the money. While I'll use some to get some things I need, it's not like I'll go on vacation with it or anything.

It's a shame not to have fun with it, but it seems like the right thing to do. Especially since I don't know if I'll be one of the people jobless in the next few months! The money doesn't seem to stretch very far, does it? Oh well, it's better than nothing at all.

I'm planning to stash ours away....that way no matter how high gas prices go this summer, I can still head up to the cottage because I'll have money to fill the tank.  The sad part is it might take all of it to do it over the course of the summer.  hmm

I was gonna use mine to fix a dent in my car, but that woulda ate every last penny. I can deal with the dent for now, save the money until its a better time economically to deal with that kinda cosmetic surgery. why fix the car if gas gets too expensive to put in it anyhow? no.gif

I got mine on Friday. I didn't get it early like they claimed, but I did get it on time, so I'm not complaining. And we actually are going to spend it on vacation. But it'll be a really cheap vacation, it'll only be a long weekend, and we're staying with my grandma instead of getting a hotel room. Which will also cut down on food costs (though it will be nice to cook for my grandma). The main purpose of the vacation is really not vacation as much as it is to see my grandparents. I don't get to visit them enough.

Yeah, I usually put mine first, since I'm the one who deals with all of it.  But I end in 90, so I put my hubby's first this year.

I'm a direct deposit person.  I didn't get it early.  But I did get it on Friday when they said I would.
