I thought I'd start a thread to show you all the new place FFR will be broadcasting from.
Lexington, North Carolina.
Below is a sattelite image of the apartment. My unit is ground floor where the red dot is. I'm not real fond of being in such a big complex. But the apartment has a private front and back entrance, and at least I'm in the furthest building back, so there shouldn't be many people walking or driving by because most of them live closer to the exit.
It sure is gonna be a change having so few streets and houses around. I'm going from the cramped little grid format of a big city to a more open, tree-filled country setting. I love it!

I like ground floor better in these type of apartment buildings. Easier to move things into, easier to get groceries in, and to me, it just feels more like living in a house instead of an apartment.
You'll get used to not having so much street noise around faster than you think JR. Especially the first night you can sleep with windows open and notice how much more quieter it is.
Yeah, that's going to be GREAT Sandy. There's about an 8 foot tall wood fence in my backyard too, so I won't be seeing those apartments behind me. A nice little patio out there for grillin'.
It should be really cool.
Right now I live on a main thoroughfare for the local fire department, so I can't go more than about 30 minutes without a fire truck or ambulance whipping past my bedroom windows.
We used to prefer 3rd floor so no one was above us. We went with that after being ground floor, the bathroom above us leaked into ours! This was right after we signed our 2yr lease. They did not make repairs in a timely fashion and we were able to break our lease and move the heck out of there! That floor was also sub level and we had to contend with a snake! But after moving from a 3rd floor to another 3rd floor (to get a washer and dryer in unit) within the same complex we kinda got burned out on the 3rd floor. So we got a 1st floor- no sub level. Hopefully we have good neighbors!

I'm pretty lazy when it comes to stairs Woo. I don't mind taking them myself. But it gets old carrying cases of bottled water and groceries and such up the steps every couple of days.
I do prefer upper level for security purposes though. And it's nice to be able to walk around without everyone outside seeing you.
But all in all I think I prefer ground level.
As long as I dont have neighbors that sound like horses clomping around above me
Let's hope we both have good, quiet neighbors above us! I told me husband it was gonna be hard for me to adjust. How loud is too loud for music? lol I may be the bad neighbor

I was thinking the SAME thing for the station! My neighbors may get sick of FFR being broadcast every day!
Well, most of them should be at work. When I looked at the place on a week day the parking lot was empty. Right now I'm looking at some possible second shift jobs, so I may not bother anyone.
By the way, I haven't forgotten about you and your dance music show. As soon as I get settled in and you get settled in we'll start working on getting you on the air.
okie dokie! But no hurry as my husband wants the computer in the living room and I will have to convince him to go away. I will freeze up if he is there- lol

Woo, when you say snake, do you mean a living snake or like a plumbing snake?

I know Lexington is going to be a HUGE culture shock to you, but I am certain you'll fall in love with our little towns and charm. You'll miss the convenience of being in the city but that's about all. you will love it here. I'm sure. plus, I'm here. what's not to love about that?!
I think the fliers I got from the North Carolina Tourism association mentioned something about their state being home to the Queen Bee
I have NO doubt I'll love the area. I would trade city life in for country life in a heartbeat. There is nothing good about living in a city over living in the country in my mind, other than easier access to shopping and entertainment, and a better variety of employment.
At my apartment I'm walking distance to the food store and a Subway sub shop. A quick drive to a Walmart and a little longer drive to the big city. I don't feel like I'm giving up any convenience by moving to Lexington, other than the obvious one of not being able to see my family easily.
As for the employment thing, we'll see what that's like soon enough. But I know the cost of living is less there, so the money will stretch a little further from a job.
Perhaps the nicest benefit is being able to travel 3 or 4 miles at 50 MPH and only hitting one stoplight. I'm so sick and tired of the city. Drive two blocks and stop. Drive two more blocks and stop.
Maybe a bike ride. I know you can't go as far, but it can be as nice. It is cheaper and better for your body. And it is a nice way to spend some time together.

Ellie LOVES the place. Although I think she loved it more when my Mom & Sister were here heaping attention on her.
But she's really adjusted well. She seems to like going out back to pee and poo. I think it's good for her that there are no steps anymore.
She also seem to love the carpets here. At home she never laid on the carpet, but here she's always sprawling out on them.
I'm excited, my Mom wanted to take a return trip in August to visit me and I told her I'd look up Greyhound rates. Turns out if you buy them 14 days in advance they got a flat rate deal. Round trip from Milwaukee to NC and back is only $126.00!!!!!
Looks like this Christmas I'll be Greyhounding it back to Milwaukee
