Anyone else disappointed with Regis Philbens job of filling in for Dick Clark?

I've always been a big fan of Regis, but I always figured he was probably a bit of a big ego snob.

I was REALLY annoyed at how shortly into the broadcast he made a VERY lame attempt to promote his own CD (I mean come on, can't you just do this ONE thing as a favor for Dick Clark without trying to boost sales to your disc!)

It wouldn't even have been so bad except that like I said it was a really lame attempt.  After Rod Stewart sang a song off his third installment of classics cd Regis sequed by saying "I'll bet Rod got the idea to sing standards after listening to my new CD" and then he goes on to name the disc.  It just seemed cheap to me.

Plus, I know on Regis & Kelly they often tease him for how out of touch he is with things, and this may be another example of that, because if he new Rod Stewart he'd know he was doing this five years ago with his American Songbook series (for that matter Michael McDonalds last two discs have been nothing but Motown remakes and have been very successful).

ALSO, the wimp was indoors for the WHOLE event and claimed at the start that "one of the many recommendations Dick gave me that I'm going to follow is to stay inside and let the young kids handle being outside down with the crowd".

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Dick Clark ALWAYS out in the elements? 

Any thoughts?  Anyone disagree?  Anyone agree?  Anyone got some cheese?
