RE: Worst Concert You Ever Saw

The worst had to be Rick Springfield a few years ago. In Kansas City, we used to have an outdoor festival where they'd generally have several bands play throughout the day with a bigger name act in the evening. Rick Springfield was the headliner. He hardly played any music. He just kept talking with the people in the front row. He'd play some guitar riffs then for no apparent reason, he'd throw his guitar in the air. I watched, horrified, for about 10 minutes then left. It was pretty bad.

The best? Same venue. Moby. I'd never heard of him before & I was pleasantly surprised. Been to 2 more of his concerts...loved both of them.

Sounds like the experience I'd described.  Was that by chance, on the Karma tour?

The worst concert I ever saw was not the fault of the entertainment.  It was a Billy Joel concert in '88.  Billy was awesome... unfortunately my drunken date was not. He tried to sing through the whole show.  It was soooooooo bad the guy in the seat next to me offered to drive me home if I would just tell him to shut the he!! up.

Speaking of - I was just talking to someone whose friend is trying to get tickets to see Gilmour solo in CA.  He went the buy them on day the tickets went on sale, but they'd already sold out.  So he then went to one of those legal scalpers, who offewred him tickets at $600 a piece!  AAAHHHHH!

That's brings back the memories from a Bruce Springsteen concert I went to a couple of years ago.  Some kid beside me knew the lyrics to EVERYsong, and to prove it, he was singing throught eh entire concert a measure AHEAD of Bruce.

He drove us NUTS the whole show!!

First, before we were married I took my wife to see Rick Springfield.   The best part of the night was when he set down with an acoustic guitar and sang a song about his father who had recently died.  Very touching.

I'm curious, Ray: Which tour was that?  When I saw the "Success Hasn't Spoiled Me Yet" tour, he dedicated "April 21, 1981" to his dad.  But there are others he wrote about his dad, so I'm wondering which tour you're referring to.
