I think I moved a tad farther away from ya Ghost. But I am just a sneeze away from US-23. I'll feel better when I am completley done with that house and I can start making the apartment mine. The living room looks good but that's about it.

Web, is there any truth to that techie mumbo jumbo?!??!
I really don't see how listening to music could open any security holes. I'd love to hear their explanation of how streaming music is insecure.
It is a much higher risk to be downloading music from questionable sources than streaming music.
Youre not opening any firewall holes. You're streaming data to a music player. If they tried to send your player anything other than music, it wouldn't know whta to do with it.
I can only see two reasons to NOT allow employees to not stream . . . First, you only have so much bandwidth. If you have a slow connection and 3-4 people each streaming their own music station, the streams might not leave much bandwidth available for real work to get done. Second, I could see how it could distract and slow some people down, but this would certainly be a case-by-case basis. Some people get MORE productive listening to music they enjoy.
If I had an employee that got $50 more work done each month done when he/she was listening to music and being happy, it would be an easy decision to pay an extra $10/month to get more bandwidth for the stream. Happy employees are better employees too.
Security issues with streming? I don't know how. The guy over there in the corner cube that is looking at porn all day is a much higher security risk to you than any music stream will ever be.
