I remember back in the day that Madonna & Cyndi Lauper were huge, and the debate was always about which one would last the longest or be more successful (clearly Madonna was).
People were also debating Tiffany or Debbie, and often speaking of them as the "new" Madonna & Cyndi Lauper. Of course, NEITHER of them continued on with too much success, atleast in the spotlight.
But I do recall reading extensive stories on them in some magazine, and thinking that Tiffany had a good shot because Bernie Brillstein was her manager (he was a hero to me because he managed some of my favorite people, including John Belushi). But then I heard that Debbie wrote her own words and music, AND played several instruments. Suddenly Tiffany seemed like a powder puff. Just up there doing nothing but singing other peoples words.
Tiffany DID however put out a really good CD about four years ago! It just got no attention.
Not to be outdone by Tiffany, I heard this morning that Debbie Gibson, or Deborah as she prefers to be called these days, is going to be in the March Issue of Playboy.
Whoaaaaaaaaaa, Anonymous was digging deep into the archives for this topic!
I have to agree with you, Tiffany has aged nicely! Her last CD from a few years ago she had a lot of photo's in it and she's definately easy on the eyes.
I never found Debbie all that attractive, and when I DO come across a Playboy I usually am reading it for the articles , but perhaps If I have occassion to see the March issue I'll have to check out her layout. You know, strictly as research for the station.
You know...You make a thread topic "Tiffany Vs. Debbie Gibson" and you will have all the 80's teen girls fighting over this topic...cuz they notice it's about which music was better...but as soon as you mention that they are both in playboy...the ladies clear out, and the men swoop in...and it's no longer about the music ....
