RE: Favorite E-Z Recipies!!

Weiner Gravy . . .

Yes, I said Weiner Gravy.

Cut up some weiners into small pieces. I like to fry them just a bit before adding some flour and milk to make a white gravy. Serve hot over toast or if it's for company, pop and bake a can of Grands biscuits and serve over them.

Hey Sparky- I tried your J taters on the grill tonight and they turned out good- but took A LONG time to cook. Do you actually toss them on the coals??

CP:  i'm making the pork chop one tonight.  I'm using regular rice.  not minute rice.  hope it will be ok.

I LIKE this thread a lot you guys.

oh ya~ and we went to the Farmers Market this am and got some yummy soft fresh lettuces, and an onion, and some garlic-the clove is still wet and soft.  i love the famer market.  I make the best vinagrette too.  those fresh baby lettuces, not too chilled with a fresh vinagrette:

Balsamic Vinegar, Olive oil, Buckwheat Honey (dark brown and thick like molasses, dab of soysauce, squeeze of lemon, fresh grated garlic, whisk together-it turns almost creamy....  delightful..

well you know how bees use flowers to make honey right?  well the people i get it from are honey farmers and they have all different kinds.  they make the beez stick to one type of plant, so they have cherry blossom, carrot, buckwheat, wildflower, clover, etc.  the buckwheat is so rich and savory.  the sweetest and lightest one i've had is from "meadow foam"  i don't know what that is, but its a plant.  but ya.  sweet.

you have to go to the Farmers Market or something to get it.  it's not at the regular store.  do you guys have farmers markets out in your neck of the woods?

Yes, we have them in Florida.  One of my favorite things to get is fresh basil.  You can put it on a sandwich, make a salad w/ tomatoes, or make pesto.  Don't ask me the receipe.  I have to look in a book when I do it.  I'm not really much for e-z receipes.

yea there's one not far from Rigg's house. Except I think he just goes on flea market day, not farmer's market day.

JD, it takes about 45 minutes on a gas grill on low. If you have the foil bag flat it takes less time. If you are using a charcoal grill you can throw it right on the coals.

I get my honey from the local farmer's market too.  They say that eating locally made honey will help with your allergies...

I'm so starving at work right now.  I brought the yummiest lunch too.  i never bring lunch,  i usually go out for a burrito or something.  here's what i made:  chicken salad.   I got the deli to slice me a THICK slice of chicken, i cubed it small, cut up apple and celery, added mayo and curry powder and salt & pepper.  brought pita pockets to stuff it in with lettuce.  YUM!!!  i cant wait.....

Sparky they are still on the big old TO DO list. I wanted to try that like the day I got back from New Orleans, but at the store I knew that anything more on the grill than hamburgers and baked beans would be a bloody-fingered mess. I was THAT exhausted- but definately that is on the summertime list! It sounds just awesome!

You basically just cut and de-seed the peppers, fill with the cheese, wrap a piece of bacon around these, stuck with a toothpick and BAM it's grill time?

That's it, but don't forget to put the two halves back together before wrapping the bacon around them.

I've tried those bacon wrapped jalapenos.  Ouch!  I cannot eat those.  Burned the heck out of my mouth.  A guy at work made some at home and brought them in.  After I ate them I thought to myself, O.K., now what did I do to him that he did this to me?  Spicey!  I would do the emoticon thing, but I don't know how and I don't want to look for one to copy.  I'm lazy tonight.

I am not too big on fish- I like a good beer-battered fish fry every once in awhile, or the fish sandwich at culvers is pretty good- but I keep hearing that fish in moderation is good for you with the omega fatty acids and what not.

So one time I cooked up a couple of salmon steaks on the broiler- they were ok, but the WHOLE HOUSE SMELLED LIKE FISH FOR A WEEK! NEVER AGAIN!!

Lately the stores in the area tho have been feature smaller chunks of salmon that are packed in a sealed package. you can flake these with a fork- spread on some water crackers or toast- there's your serving of fish- no dishes outside of the serving plate, and NO FISH HOUSE SMELL!
