More Fun In Radio Land

I met a cool guy named Lee Arnold yesterday. He runs a little station on live365 that mirrors his heyday as station director of a Sacromento Radio Station back in the early 1970s. I checked out his site and had fun lookin at the old pics. Here are some.smile.gif

lol well according to Lee, guy on the left, their big thing was to get the band POCO to play a concert for the station, so then after that they all grew their hippy hair into POCO hair. Maybe it reminds you of someone in POCO?confused.gifsmile.gif

Wow, those are some cool "back in the day" pics.  smile  I wonder if mainstream radio studios still use turntables and reel-to-reel tapes, or if those have fallen by the wayside?  Since I never hear any pops or hisses, I'm assuming it's all digital now.  cry

looking at these old pics, I wonder if some of the old pops and hisses weren't on the albums we bought ourselves, but on the djs albums played at the station, due to someone volcanoing a weed bowl right on top of an album as it was playing. rofl.gifrofl.gifrofl.gif

quite possibly it might.... Wasn't Poco a one hit wonder group? I can't remember their big hit, but they didn't have many, did they?

Very cool pics JD.  I love that kind of stuff!

What I love about the 70's is how nobody ever seemed to care how things looked smile.gif

I mean, EVEN in the 70's that did not look like an impressive setup.  But it was about functionality back then, not sleek design.

Hey, what's the guys website address?  I'd like to check it out and maybe tune in once in awhile.

Poco had a couple of hits that I remember. Crazy Love and Heart Of The Night. The second one is about New Orleans and is a great song. Nice and mellow.
