Ok, first of all, I'm not THAT obsessed with the Runza, but Jr and I were talking a few days ago and he asked if they were like most fast food place where what you actually get never looks even close to the advertising. They are fairly close, but not quite as stuffed full and the picture shows.
My wife is a little disappointed because the Runza we sometimes go to when we go to Kearney has "Cheesecake on a stick" which she loves. That must be a special thing to that particular restaurant because ours doesn't have it, and its not listed on the menu.
Anyway, JR, you asked for pictures:
Today, I opted for a strawberry smoothie rather than the Cherry Pepsi.
Here, I cut it open so you can see the filling. This is a mushroom and swiss one. They have plain (just ground beef, spices, onions, & cabbage), cheese, and also an Italian (I've never tried that one). I really like their fry/ring dip too. I'm not even sure how to describe the taste of the dip, but it tastes so good, I'm sure its not good for me.
The bread is baked fresh every day and they claim the beef is never frozen.
There you go. Any of you are welcome to come visit and I'll take you out for a Runza.
It's not too far off the ad photo, but definately not as pretty
The ad one looks like a mini loaf of bread and the meat is all neatly packed. The one you brought home looks like what I would think it would look like if I tried to make it myself.
None the less, I'd definitely try one if I ever got the chance. I like the idea of the meat being sealed inside the bread like that.
When I was talking to web about the Runza I was telling him about a website where the guy puts photo's side by side of the advertised fast food product and the real product. It's pretty startling when you see the items next to each other.
I might even have originally heard about it here on the forum, so this may be repeating, but here's the link if anyone wants to check it out... http://www.thewvsr.com/adsvsreality.htm
