I tuned into Freeze Frame Radio on Monday night, what the hey. Lo and behold, Riggs was on the air, and announced that he was going to do a T-10!!!! A top 10 countdown of hits from this week from a year in the 1980s. IT HAS BEEN AWHILE!!
RIGGS! The daytime numbers are sky-rocketting!! ARE YOU WORKING DOUBLE SHIFTS NOW to lure in a huge night time audience as well !?!?!

Yes J.D., save for the 4 hours a week that you're in the studio, I'm now working the other 164 hours of the week :)
I want to make sure we maintain this momentum, and I think knowing there's a real person in the studio is a big asset for us over a lot of the fully automated other internet station.
I'm going to take another stab at the nightly T10, because I miss it, but I'm bummed because ALL THE RERUNS from the last two years are missing !!!!! NOT GOOD!
well I would say that you definately need to get outside and get some more sun, but it IS winter, it IS nighttime, it IS wisconsin. Stay indoors. at the studio, at the mic. Its healthier than a winter evening in wisconsin.
p.s. don't tell Roberts, but I might still have a beer or 2 in the cafeteria fridge if you're in the mood for a broadcast brew.

Too cool, I am listening to this right now with my 11 year old son, he loves the 80s music also. Jan 12, 1985 I was living just outside of London England while serving in the US Air Force. Some of the best times of my life.
1983-1986 were my absolute favorite years. I suppose it's not a coincidence they were also the four years I was in high school.
I suppose EVERYBODY thought the four years of high school or the four years of college were the best (unless you were the kid that was getting daily swirlees).
This song just prompted conversation between me and my son about John Lennon and who shot him. Of course, I couldn't remember and had to look it up that it was Mark David Chapman.
That was the reason I tuned in at night Riggs, was that I knew there would be a live dj right there listening to the music as I was. It's like a shared listening party then.

I remember that day. I was in the 4th grade, and watching Jane Pauley and Brokaw cover this on the today show. Then hearing that weird weird Double-Fantasy release at my 12th birthday party a year later.

Oh i was blue in the face over the honey drippers. How could the makers of Cashmere and Rock and Roll, Misty Mountain Hop, do that?? I thought it was a total total total sell out. I hated it. Tho in hindsight, for what they wanted to do, they did do a good job.

Yeah, they're followup single ROCKIN AT MIDNIGHT was a pretty good cover too.
Hey, this is a good way to stir up conversationi on the forum hey? The T10 kind of creates automatic topics for us to discuss.
The Underground 80's would be GREAT for that too if you could get some of those weekend listeners to interact a little! It's like they're all strapped into their hospital beds for the night or something
yes I wholeheartedly admit- my numbers are good ones on live365 for a sunday night- a night when there is so many other entertainment options. C'mon I go up against the Simpsons, I fought Tony Soprano for audience, Freeze Frame is NOT a regular jazz station- its tough, but the numbers are always consistent. But gee whiz, my audience just does not interact or post!!! I have often thought my listeners were people who were having long weekends at work and simply fell asleep at the keyboard, tuned into Freeze Frame since Friday...but any time that I've had a DSL drop, most, if not all of the Sunday night listeners, returned. Quickly and in droves!! I can only guess that my invitation to them to "bust out that bottle of wine, and grab that book that you've been meaning to read or write" keeps them to preoccupied to come and visit the post?
Who knows, them jazz fans is wierd And well, the Underground 80s fans are 40 yrs old and still have their blue mohawks and black lipstick...

RIGGS how did your show go tonight?! Sounded good- but you do sound flustered that its not the well-oiled machine it was the last time you were doing it!

Yeah, it's very frustrating not to have everything at my fingertips like it once was.
It's going to take some organizing to get it back in shape. When things are unorganized you wind up scurrying around during song breaks to get everything in order, and as a result it's hard to keep a train of thought while talking.
Grrrrrrrrrrr. Oh well, in a few weeks.
I decided not to rerun these episodes during the day, because they're so rough, but when the polish is back, they'll get rerun during the daytime hours.
On occasion I'll run reruns if I can ever find them! There were some pretty good shows back last year, I had archived about three dozen of them, but lost em in the computer. Hopefully I backed em up somewhere, that WOULD be the smart thing to do. So then again, maybe I didn't
The requests come in fast & furious all day, I don't think people would like to have their requests broken up with a one hour show in the middle of the day.
I will probably wait until 3 PM or even 4 PM, when the audience has dwindled a bit and the requests have slowed.
