I can't believe you had to ASK that!

Wisconsin is BEAUTIFUL.

Rolling hills, dense forest land, the Wisconsin Dells, beautiful lakes.

YES, Wisconsin is a place to vacation.  A GREAT place to vacation.

I miss my Wisconsin.  cry.gif

The resorts on lake Delton were on the news last week BEGGING people not to cancel their reservations.

I feel for them, but come on, most people get one vacation a year, do they really want to take it at a resort overlooking a mud bowl?

I'm sure many of them have boats and were specifically coming up to fish.

But only two out of the three people I hoped to see would be there.

Oh well, Meatloaf said "Two out of three ain't bad". I guess I will take what I can get. Hmmm. Cows, corn, cheese, grass, a baseball game.

Besides JR, JD didn't say he was taking me anywhere but West Allis. Maybe there are other gorgeous spots to visit, but that wasn't included in my package deal.

Yup.  The floods caused it to carve out a new river basically and the whole thing drained out.

Although, I do not know how you go about rebuilding the wildlife and ecology of a lake.

Patch hole. Fill with water. Add fish, frogs, slime, sticks, leaves, etc.

First they gotta fix the new area the lake carved out. Apparantly it's going to be quite a big job.

Then they have to wait for some other river that feeds the lake to fill it, which could take months.

They said it will be back for next years vacation season, but this year is lost.

I wouldn't say they are "can't wait" but we get to go see the OK Sisters next weekend in the park and then later we're planning on going to Little Bigtown.

Not exactly arena concerts, but its the best we got. hmm.gif

It sounds like Wisconsin might look an awful lot like Michigan, except I think we have more lakes.  Not sure what the Wisconsin Dells are though.

Well, it started out as a natural attraction, now it's the waterpark capitol of the world. A real summer attraction here.

Oh hey, that looks like a place we'd really enjoy!!  The girls would love the water parks, while I'd really enjoy the river boat tour!!   I quickly glanced through the link, but plan to check it out a little more thoroughly.  Never know, I might decide to take a vacation in Wisconsin sometime in the future.  smile

There ya go!

It's really amazing. Another thing that's really gotten big there are haunted houses / fun houses

They have three amazing ones. One where it looks like the White House after it's been demolished. Another one is an entire house built upside down. Another one is on a crazy angle.

Lots of roller coasters, go-carts, etc.

The only complaint I have is downtown Dells has been painted in the most hideous, clashing colors as every business wants to make theirs stand out. It really looks quite tacky in my opinion.

Oh, and lake Delton was a part of all of it.

The Tommy Bartlett water show took place on that lake all summer.

Our two biggest tourist attractions are the town of Frankenmuth and Mackinaw Island.  Frankenmuth is world renowned for Bronner's Christmas Wonderland, along with Bavarian Inn and Zehnder's restaurants (chicken dinners are their specialty).  Mackinaw Island is famous for the scenic views of Lake Huron, the Grand Hotel, and fudge.  I've been to both a couple of times, and maybe it's because I'm so used to both places, but they don't interest me anymore and quite frankly, I don't see what the big draw is either.  Maybe I'm jaded.  hmm

Oh man, I loved Wisconsin Dells and keep saying we've got to go on vacation there. I think I was a preteen the last time I went with my grandparents. My mom, stepdad, and sister went recently, and they loved it too, especially House on the Rock (which was also in Neil Gaiman's book American Gods).

Most of the best concerts are the smaller ones.  I rarely go to arena shows.  Sounds good to me, Web.

Mz, The House on The Rock is a really unique place.  Did you have enough time to tour the place?  There is alot to see.

I don't think the House on the Rock was there the last time I went. The rest of my family went after I moved out, so I didn't go along.

That's where I went! The House On The Rock. Then we we went to The Mall Of America in Minnesota.

Sandy- Frankenmuth was always a blast to me when I was younger. I was a city girl and this trip was considered a vacation for me. My husband grew up in Millington- too close to Frankenmuth and also feels like "what's the big deal?" But it being his stomping ground, that's how it goes. Now we just go to Snowfest there as long as it is cold enough. Don't bother when it is muddy out- bleh
Ya know speaking of Snowfest, I don't think I ever posted my pics on here from the last one hmm I gotta get around to that- lol

Yeah, I think because I live so close to Frankenmuth it doesn't seem like a "destination" to me anymore.  When my sister-in-law from Hawaii came for a visit, that was the first place she wanted to go.  I took her, showed her all the sights.  She had a great, fun time while I was thinking "when the hell can we get out of here."

But I do enjoy going to Snowfest because I love to see the snow sculptures and ice carvings!!  Those guys are great at what they do!  smile
