Recently voted the worst uniform in all of major league baseball...

As soon as I started reading the article, this is the one that popped into my head too.  For SOME reason I actually bought the replica of this hideous jersey when I was a kid.  Then again, I had the Cubs too, so cleary I was insane.

1. 1976 Chicago White Sox-Shorts Alternate

First off, we'll cover the horrendous color scheme. They were very bland with plain lettering, and a giant blac collar over a white uniform was disastrous. And there "white sox" looked like something an old lady would wear.  But to really consider the reason why these are the worst uniforms ever, one word: shorts. Yes, for one game, the White Sox wore shorts. And these were not baggy NBA shorts or short baggy old school shorts, they were more like short capris. I have no idea how anyone could ever think this was a good idea, but it was not a shock when they were scrapped after just one game.

Good call JD.  They were 5'th worst...

5. Pittsburgh Pirates-1970s

Okay, I don't like the black top, or the yellow pants, but this team wins the award for worst hat ever. It was strangely squared shaped, and it was a mix up of stripes and solids and too many strong colors. Not good.

did the brewers away uniforms rank anywhere- from the late 70s to early 80s?
Don't get me wrong, I loved them uniforms, but really the colors were absurd....

No. They were spared. In fact the guy who wrote the article actually liked powder blue uniforms in general.

I liked the away uniforms too. I liked the fact they said MILWAUKEE on them. Now they just say Brewers.

I think we're the only team in the major leagues that doesn't put their city name on their road uniforms anymore. cry.gif

Jr - that may not be true. I am actually trying to recall, but I think all the Phillies jerseys just say Phillies. I never really pay attention. And I am sitting here trying to picture the away uniforms. And some genious had a brilliant idea to create an alternative jersey that the Phils wear at home sometimes. Um, hello? You can't be at home and not have white with red pin stripes. The new uniforms have this cream color with a red Phillies across the chest and blue collar and sleeve hems.

I don't think the Brewers had bad uniforms and I enjoy that their Friday night homegames are retro nights and they wear the old uniforms. Houston's orange uniforms were bad and so was Pittsburg's yellow. If you take a look at Pittsburgh though, you will see that all theie major sports (baseball, footbal and hockey) are all black and gold. No other city can say that.

I remember when they first started putting advertising on the outfield walls of County Stadium. I hated it. It looked like a minor league park hmm.gif

I didn't know that about the Phil's Fuzzy. I guess we're not alone.

They say they stopped putting MILWAUKEE on our road uniforms because of the five county tax they put in effect to raise money for the ballpark.

Wow Fuzz!! Turns out several teams don't use the city name on road uniforms anymore. I found this...

I've never really noticed the fact that most road jerseys have the team city on them while the home uniforms have the team nickname. When you think about it, it's entirely logical and it got me to wondering of the Orioles were the only team to employ this silly error of putting "Orioles" on both the home and road uniforms.

I knew that the Cardinals, Brewers and Angels all didn't put their city name on the road uniforms, but I didn't realize the Phillies the also used "Phillies" on both the road and home unis. That's only 5 teams, but these are changes that definitely need to be made. Back in the day, Milwaukee actually had "Milwaukee" on their road uniforms. From 1961-1964, the Los Angeles Angels actually had "Los Angeles" on the front. The California Angels never had "California" on the front, but the Anaheim Angels had "Anaheim" on the front from 2002-2003. The Phillies have never had "Philadelphia" on their road jerseys. St. Louis had "St. Louis" on their road jerseys until 1908, left it off and then went back to it from 1920-1921. Got rid of it and then went back to it from 1930-1932 and 1932 was the last time "St. Louis" was dawned on a Cardinals road uniform.

The Orioles had "Baltimore" on the road jerseys from 1956 until 1972. In 1973, they switched to "Orioles" on the road jerseys and they've never gone back. I'd love to see them go back but right now it doesn't look like it's going to happen anytime soon.

Interestingly enough, the two most beatiful uniforms in all of baseball never mention their team nickname on either the home or road jerseys. Those two teams would be Detroit and the New York Yankees. Detroit uses the Old English "D" on their home uniforms and "Detroit" on their road uniforms, while the Yankees use the stunning "NY" on their home unis and "New York" on their road greys.

Exactly what does that have to do with anything. weirdface

Frankly, I think Philadelphia is too long to get across a jersey. Maybe that is the same thing for Milwaukee. I should go back and look at the Philadelphia A's uniforms. I think they always just had the A on them.

Maybe we know now why good ol' Prince was so upset he didn't get a bigger raise this year.

The Journal-Sentinal is reporting he owes $409,149 in back taxes. Apparantly he didn't think he had to pay taxes on his signing bonus in 2003 ashamed.gif

They had a link to the actual tax lein, but they took it down. Must have crossed a line there hmm.gif

Typically, he lists his residence as Florida. It's amazing, all the pro athletes seem to "live" in Florida where there's no state income tax.

But the cities wised up to that years ago. If your city has a wage tax, these guys are paying it for their salary earned while playing home games. It is where your income is earned, not your residency. Plus, the state will get it's share too. Same principal. Your wages are earned in a state. If your state does not have a reciprocal agreement with your residency state, they get to keep the tax earned (provided there is state tax). There only a few states without state tax, FL being the biggest.

Sorry. But you should stop dragging the accountant out of me. You only do it to yourself. You will become boring if that keeps happening.
