I went through the drive through today at McDonalds...I even used a car despite 4.00 a gallon gas.  I proceeded to speak into the clowns mouth.  I asked for a diet Coke without ice.  I do this for three reasons. one of which is illegal.  (a joke)  Anyway, this request is usually hit or miss.  Today, of course was a miss.  The soda came back with enough ice to make a polar bear smile.  (Or a penguin). 

I think our society is slowly but surely losing the ability to listen.  We would rather talk or are thinking of talking and what we will say when someone else is talking, just waiting or our turn to pontificate once more.

Since I started working for the Sheriff's Department, I am acutely aware of how important listening is...and what isnt being said.  I used to think I was a good listener but I was wrong. 

The moral for the day....listen more...it might save your life.  Mainly from a guy who just got too much ice in his Diet Coke.
