Hey Darlene, my penguin is packed too. The girls and I are heading off tomorrow with Granny and Pop to see Mt. Rushmore. Along the way we're going to MN to experience Mall of America, then it's off to Bismarck, ND for whatever there is to do in Bismarck. From there it's down to SD to experience the Badlands and Mt. Rushmore. This trip will knock out five more states for us (IA, MN, ND, SD, & NE) and puts us up to 36. I checked the map. We're not in driving distance to visit Web, but... Sparky and Ally.... if you're in town July2-4, give us a call and maybe we can meet for lunch or some such.

Awe drat, my first thought was that you might likely be coming right up through highway 2 and our town - Broken Bow. If that changes, give me a call on my cell phone and we'll roll out the red carpet for ya.

Thanks for the invite Web. We're leaving Rapid City Saturday morning and hoping to make it down to Kansas City by evening. That will be our longest driving day. A potty/rest break at the Web homestead would have been nice along the way, I just don't see how the logistics are gonna work this time around.
Maybe next time though...

I have been behond Mt Rushmore and the only butt I have seen is Sparky's when he had to pee. weirdface.gif




Are you planning on see the fireworks at Mt Rushmore? They are on the 3rd at dark usually 9ish. Its really beautiful.

The badlands are a pretty drive when the sun is rising or setting...the middle of the day is HOT.

There is so much to see in this area....but if you have time and want to meet up just let us know.

Sorry - a little late to the party. I was in South Dakota a few years back. Saw the laser light show in Sioux Falls, went to the Presidential Wax Museum in Keystone (which was creepier than I had expected), and stayed at an awesome hotel in Rapid City - the Alex Johnson. It was like something from out of a movie...

Hope you had a good time! South Dakota is awesome and my parents frequently talk about retiring and moving there someday.
