Last night I got an invite to another bogus campaign.
The American Express Plum Card.
When I turned it down they asked me to tell em' why.
I kind of unloaded on them. In hindsight I probably should have counted to ten before sending the reply. But AGAIN, this is NOT an offer to test a new product. This is a direct marketing campaign in which they're hoping to hook me as a new AMEX customer.
That's not what I signed up for. I didn't ask to basically be advertised too. So I voiced my displeasure quite clearly.
I don't think there's any free remotes in my future
I got invited to that campaign too. I think that was the 2nd time I had been invited to that or something similar. I declined. I just said that I didn't want another credit card.

"Hey, I gotta tell you about this new credit card I just got! You apply for this card and they send it to you in the mail. THEN, you take the card to a store and buy stuff with it! Its so amazing! You gotta try it out!"
There's gonna be good campaigns and bad campaigns. But for something I didn't have to pay for to be a member- I'm happy. Especially now that you get MyPoints too.

Like I said before, I'm just bitter about being only offered the crappy ones while everyone else gets this cool stuff.
Bottom line is, if it's a lame campaign it's easy enough to just decline it. Like you said, it doesn't cost me anything.
I just get so annoyed getting an email that gets me excited to think there might be something cool and it turns out to be nothing more than a direct advertisement to me. It's like being fooled into coming to the site to be spammed.
