I read on ESPN as just a footnote in an article that Geoff is in one of his famous hitting coma's and has been buried on the Philly bench.
But I checked out a bunch of Phlly newspaper sites and couldn't find any info.
Is it bad? Or just a simple slump? How are the fans treating him?
He's really lost his talent the last few years. Seems like ever since he broke his foot he's just not the same guy. But I always liked him, he's a class act and I was kind of hoping a change of scenery would turn things around for him.
Jenkins doesn't play everyday, he is splitting time and is usually in for a left-handed pitcher, but I don't think he is hitting much. But then again, over the last two weeks (interleague play) none of the Phillies were hitting. Now the are back into the NL and have been picking on the Braves the last two nights.
I guess this may explain how bad he might be struggling right now. Jenkins played the other day (they all run together so I don't remember what day it was). He had a 3-0 count, there were two men on, I believe there was only one out (if any). They gave him the green light. He swung and popped a ball foul over by third base. So that confused me. I actually yelled at the tv (yes, this is normal for me and sports) about the ball placement (high), the count and the fact as a left handed hitter he was late enough to pop it up top the third baseman foul. It wasn't good. Even if given the green light, who doesn't usually take the next pitch?
The Phils have one more in Atlanta tonight before going home to the Mets. They need to win 10 or 12 games in a row to get back the confidence and momentum they lost with interleague play. St. Louis comes to town next week so I hope the Phillies will be able to help the Brewers out.

Yes PLEASE. Sweep the Phillies. If you're playing them though I imagine that means we're not far behind.
We're 5-4 on our road trip with a great shot at 6-4 today. That would be HUGE. We're awesome at home, if we can play close to .500 on the road we have an excellent shot at the wild card this year.
Barring injury I think the big money Cubs are uncatchable. But we all know in the playoffs they're plenty vulnerable.
Sorry, he faces right handed pitching. My bad. I know the other night they were talking about him changing his approach or something.
From the Phillies website:
ARLINGTON -- Geoff Jenkins understands why his name wasn't in Saturday's lineup, despite a right-hander pitching for the Rangers.
The Phillies outfielder could simply point to a dismal 2-for-41 (.049) stretch since June 6. Jenkins hasn't gotten a hit since a second-inning single against the Cardinals on June 15, and is 0-for-25 since.
"I picked up a bad habit," Jenkins said. "It's actually a pretty simple adjustment. I have to lower my hands a little bit and just relax. My hands feel quick and my bat feels quick. Any hitter can pick up a bad habit."
Phillies manager Charlie Manuel explained that he wants Jenkins to lower his left elbow, which he feels would improve his timing. He suggested that he may give Jenkins Sunday off as well for him to get used to the change.
Jenkins joked that he took about "200" swings in the batting cage Saturday and was ready for more.
"He's receptive," Manuel said "You have to remember this guy was in Milwaukee and had some decent seasons. That's the way he hit, but he's been having a hard time."
Jenkins acknowledged an earlier reluctance, but is willing to give the tweak a shot.
"Over the course of your career, you make adjustments," he said. "In the last couple of days, it feels great. As a hitter I've always hit, so I felt I could hit through this, but it's a mechanical thing."

Seems to me I recall the Brewers sweeping themselves out of a series once or twice this year
It's good to know Geoff is having those problems in Philly in a way. At least I know the Brewers aren't just cursed. Sometimes it doesn't even feel like we belong in the league. Like we're not good enough to be with the other teams.
When I watch a national broadcast of the team, like if ESPN is carrying the game, it always strikes me how odd it feels. Like for that three hours we belong.
But this team has been bad for so long, and never seems to be able to get over the hump, it really does feel like we're not even a part of things.
Yeah, that was impressive. You gotta root for David over Goliath.
Look, if the Sox win AGAIN, I'll congratulate Darlene and I'll mean it. But they're part of the money ball that came close to ruining baseball. The MLB needs a salary cap. This luxury tax stuff is helping but it's still just not fair.
As far as I'm concerned the Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs, etc. should just be put in a new, seventh division called the Money League.
It drives me nuts how much the Cubs spend every off season. And whenever they suffer an injury it's like no big deal, they'll just go buy a replacement.
Don't get me started This isn't the game I grew up with. The game that stood for over 100 years.
