I love the increased playlist, particularly that you have added more 70's into the mix such as Earth, Wind & Fire and Pablo Cruise. There is a lot of good music from that era that you don't hear much of anymore. Don't know if you are familiar with this one song or have it available but one of my favorite songs from the 70s was "Moonlight Feels Right" by Starbuck
Thanks Jeremy - nice job hunting down and adding the Ann Wilson single you are playing right now. That is an overlooked but excellent song - I managed to track it down a few years ago on the late great Napster.
We made another nice addition to the request system last night, over 200 new songs to bring us up to 4347. The really good news is I still have over 3,000 CD's to go through!
I now expect we will blow away our original goal of 5,000 songs by March 1'st, I have no idea where we'll wind up, but it will be a big number.
I just wanted to keep you all updated, AND to remind you that I'm ONLY including songs that were HOT 100 hits during the last three decades, so if there's something you want on the list that wasn't a hit, or a hit that you notice is missing, PLEASE let me know and I'll do my best to add it for you.
I'll update again early next week, I expect to do quite a bit of work on the playlist over the weekend.
PS. We'll be posting a full list PDF file of all of the CD's we have in our library at some point. This may help people in remembering some long lost favorite songs.
I keep seeing more and more great 70's songs on the request list which is wonderful. My "growing up" years were split between the 70s and 80's decades so I love 70's and 80's pretty equally. Now FreezeFrame is the best of both worlds for me.
I'll confess to requesting Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr. this morning - hope that did not drive off too many listeners! Ditto for what I just requested a few minutes ago - "Year of the Cat" - that is probably one of the longest songs ever to hit the top 40 but I love it.
Oh man, there's some memories, going through my parents' 45s! My earliest recollection is even before I went to school, or maybe it was when I was home sick from elementary school, but my mom would play groups like the Kingston Trio, The Association, and Peter, Paul, and Mary. In the 45s collection I remember American Pie, and a song called "Hello Muddah, Hello Fadda". Can't remember who it's by, but I remember it's funny!
I think that I asked this before but is there a way to flag the newly added songs on the request system? Even to flag them for a couple of days so that we know that they are new?
Unfortunately there is not that option right now, but when we're done with the initial building of the playlist at may be possible.
At the very least we will eventually list the songs added within the last 2 weeks to 30 days on the PLAYLIST INFORMATION link on our website (right now it's not active).
Yeah knowing the new songs would be great. I try to figure it out but...
What is that song, the guy meets up with his old girlfriend at the grocery store and then they buy a six pack of beer and sit in the car? I would love to hear that, I am not even sure it is from the 80s.
Thanks again Jeremy...And Congrats on the Sponsor...Not that I don't enjoy all the facets of the community of Freeze-frame, But I can't wait to see what changes this will enable to make it even better....BTW....Is freeze-Frame mall a joke or is there going to be a shopping thing associated w/ the site?
The Freeze-Frame Mall is legit. We're signing up as associates with a bunch of national chains like Wal-Mart, Target, Amazon.com, etc as another way to raise some cash.
Again, it's a way we can raise a little money creatively. We'll ask that people just go through us to do any shopping they would NORMALLY do on the net, and we'll get 2 - 10% of the sale price.
It's another way to raise money without asking our listeners to directly help us out.
Not many internet stations have found a way to run their station without begging for money, I think we can do it better, and the mall will be another peice of the puzzle.
cool, let me know..I do a fair bit of online shopping.
Thanks for playing my request too...Man, I have fond memories of these songs, but as soon as I hear them on the station, I realize just how much they DON't Fit in...I still love that elephant Love Medley, but rest assured, I won't request it again....
You know, I like that song too, and I thought it would be a nice change of pace, but you're right, it really doesn't fit. We lost 5 listeners during the course of that song. But the LOYAL ones stick it out, and those are the listeners we WANT anyway.
If someones so fickle that they'll tune out because of one bad song then they'd be impossible to keep happy anyway.
Yes I did notice that the song came on quite quickly! Thanks for doing that for me!
I am looking for another song, "Tuesdays Gone With The Wind"-who sings that? That is another one that brings back memories. Gosh, I am really going back to high school listening to this station, but I LOVE IT!
And Congrats on the sponsor! You all are doing a great job!
I believe you are looking for Lynyrd Skynyrd's Tuesdays Gone which the chorus is Tuesday's gone with the wind. Hope that helps. Its the only one I can think of other than Christopher Cross Ride Like The Wind.
