REQUEST LIMITS LOWER?

Hello everyone!

I've gotten a couple emails today asking about the lower request limit (we're at 2 every 30 minutes today).

As the station audience grows, and more importantly, as the size and the variety of the playlist grows, we unfortunately will need to have these lower limits on a more regular basis.  In fact, there will be times we will be as low as 1 request every 30 minutes (but I'll try to avoid that as much as possible).

The lower limit allows us to get to your requests faster.  When we allow 3 we are routinely 2 to 3 hours backed up, and that's a long time to wait to hear your song.

The lower limit also avoids big shifts in the sound, which is more important than ever since we have expanded our playlist well beyond only Top 40 from the 80's.  By this, I mean, it is typical that when someone requests their songs they'll all be one genre, so all of a sudden we may have 3 straight HARD HARD rock songs, or 2 straight country songs, etc.

Besides, if you think about it, 2 songs every 30 minutes is one song every 15 minutes, or roughly 1 out of every 5 songs, so EVEN at that rate you're song choices will be a huge part of the playlist.

I hope everyone understands the need for the lower limits.

Remember, the limit is based on the number of listeners currently tuned in AND how many songs are currently lined up, so in the evenings and weekends, we often have the limit set for FIVE!

I personally dont mind the 2 song limit, it gives everyone a chance to get there songs heard quicker which is always good.

I am grateful that we even have a list, be it only one request or five.

Thanks
