A local group in Wisconsin is starting a bring back Favre web site and rallies on Sundays at Lambeau field.
I wasn't sure about what the right thing to do with Favre was. It's definately and ugly situation now but I think the fault lies on both sides. Favre has been too wishy washy and apparantly needs Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy to romance him every off season so he feels "welcome".
On the flip-side, Thompson has been an arrogant a** ever since he took over the Packers and it's been clear to anyone that watches the Pack that he really hasn't wanted him back any of the last three years. I think he was eager to put the old era behind him and start creating his "legacy".
I say, no time for ego. Favre gives us the best chance to win this year. Bring em' back!
I agree, Favre gives the Packers the best chance to win at this point.
Ted Thompson has come under alot of criticism since he took over as GM. He has never done anything flashy. All he has done he rebuild a 5-11 football team. How much of last year's 13-3 record we can attribute to him and how much was riding on the shoulders of Brett Favre we are going to find out.
The Packers have now told Favre he can report to camp...but not as the guaranteed starter. I dont think he would want to come back as the "clip board holder". The Packers are calling his bluff. They didn't want him going to a division rival and are not going to outright release him so he can come in as a Viking on September 8th.
For better or worse, Number 12, Aaron Rodgers, will run out of the tunnel as the Green Bay Packers starting QB on September 8th.
The loser in all this is the legacy of a once in a lifetime athlete and the relationship with a truly storied franchise.
For Rogers it was going to be hard enough following favre...there are always going to be the comparisons and the whispers, "Favre would have made that play".
Now, unless he comes out and plays well from day one...the pressure is going to mount.

Brett should sue all of WI for doing this to him. I don't think he even knows who he is anymore.

Hey JR - aren't you the same guy that said Rodgers was the new man? That he can play better than Farve? Speed, talent, arm strength, etc. You said he was the man to lead the team now. But here you are trying to recruit Farve. The man retired. He should stay that way. He had a great career. I would hate to see him have a lousy year and go out on the bottom. He just doesn't know what to do with himself yet. He has never had the time to himself (and his family) that he currently has. Maybe he should go coach some high school or college ball.
Hey - wasn't there a bet made (never finalized though)?
