Five standby favorite meals to make

Well, since the forum is quieter than JD's parents when he asks them if he was adopted, I guess I'll start some threads

It occurs to me that most the people I know have a very small list of daily meals they eat, you know?

Like I know JD has pork loins A LOT, asparagus too.

Seems to me like I always eat my best variety when I'm dieting because I tend to be more likely to try other things that may be low fat / low cal.

But what are your go to meals?  I would consider a go-to meal to be something that at least once a week you're going to have ONE or more of the items on the list.

For me, these are them...

Omlettes  (I love egg beater omlettes.  I have one anywhere from 2 to 6 days a week.  On the days I  don't have an omlette I'm either not having breakfast or I'm making cheesy eggs instead)

Rice-A-Roni  (It's easy to make, tastes extra great with a little parmesan cheese sprinkled on top, and it's cheap)

Frozen Pizza  (Like JD, I tend to prefer a basic pizza and then I'll put fresh toppings on it)

Popcorn Shrimp  (can't get enough of it.  High in cholestoral, so I probably eat too much, but hey, I'll die happy)

Burgers  (I dont' get fast food ones much at all anymore, but I love to pick up some lean ground beef and make em' at home)

So how about you?

Web, I know RUNZA makes your list

You know, I thought about taking a shot at myself.  But then I realized I really haven't taken a pot shot at you in at least a week, and you were WAAAAY overdue.

I stop and get me a Subway pizza about once a week too.

Mrs Web does a good job at keeping us in variety. I think pancakes (sometimes waffles) are the "go to" meal at our house when we need something quick, fast, and we know the boy will eat it. We usually have some scrambled eggs or hash browns with the pancakes too.

Also burgers.

Chicken strips with some kind of boxed rice meal.

OH!

Speaking of food . . . Mrs Web wanted me to tell you Wisconsinites that she likes your pickles.

She got a jar of "Wisconsin's Best" (I think thats the brand name (something like that (Its either Wisconsin or Milwaukee ( I don't remember now)))) pickles and she likes them better than Vlassic. Good job you pickle producers, thats what its all aboot!

This one is too easy. I guess I have 6.

Chicken with potatoes (chopped up and cooked together).

Hamburgers

Ham and mac n cheese

Amy's frozen burrito

Chicken and rice (nothing special, either plain rice with some spices in it, or rice-a-roni natural)

Fish, broiled with garlic and butter, and a baked potato with too much sour cream.

I can't say I have anything I eat week in and week out (at least in the same form). I do eat quite a bit of chicken, but I do mix up how it's prepared. I will prepare pork different ways too. If I am lazy and nothing really strikes me, I will make rice and hambuger and simply mix a bowl of it together and eat it. Sometimes I add peppers and onions to it. Like those of you that do rice-a-roni, I like the Lipton sides better. They have various rice and noodle options. Mac & Cheese, cereal or soup are also good default meals, but again, I do not have them once a week.

I get tired and bored with eating the same old things. I try to have something defrosted for when I arrive home. Tonight I am going to make angel hair pasta and sausage. I can feel the heartburn already.

for stand bys, for me who really does not cook anymore, the hubby does-

When I cook for everyone its spaghetti, chili, grilled chicken and some box noodle/rice side, or chicken ceasar salad. Now though, I eat my own meals most nights- grilled meat/fish, salads or leftovers, I always have at least one whole grain and two veggies and a small protein. I can't get my family to eat like this every night, but most nights we share food- I cook the meat and the hubby the sides, or vice versa. His version is always unhealthy!

When we go into standby mode it's usually Goulash, burgers, tacos, sloppy joes, or pasgetti.

I'll do the premium mac and cheese (cheese sauce in pouch) and throw some veggies in there every once in awhile, or slice up some ham in there. easy, quick, not too bad.
