Speaking of which, I had a WEIRD dream that came outta nowhere last night, and it involved the Ghostbusters (sort of).
I dreamt that I looked out my kitchen window and saw a black car parked in the back with the ghostbusters logo on the front door, just as I noticed it the doorbell rang.
I went to the front door and there was a young woman and a young man, neither of which I recognized, and Ray Parker Jr!!!!
It appears he was running a real life Ghostbusting agency now, and had answered a letter I apparantly sent years earlier asking for his assistance.
I was embarrassed because I didn't actually have a ghost to get rid of, so I decided to try and just tell ghost stories and bluff my way through it. While I was trying to tell the stories the three of them were rummaging through my house for pictures, Ray kept mumbling I need photo's of the family to make a connection. But I had no photo's around the house and I was getting increasingly angry that he wasn't listening to my stories.
All of a sudden Ray said "well, I've wasted enough time here, I have to get back to California" and he got up and walked out, the women left immediately behind him. The younger guy was scribling something on a clipboard and as he walked out the door he handed me a crudely written invoice for $1900 some dollars (probably $1985 or whatever year the movie was released right?)
I was like "Hey, you guys didn't even do anything" and he pointed to the second page where it stated "Full Amount Due Regardless Of Outcome" and then he left.
And I was thinking "I got taken by Ray Parker Jr."
Definitely "Breakfast Club"... Those characters epitomized all of our high schools. We all could identify, at least in part, to one of those characters. Oh, lest we forget "TOP GUN"!!! "That's a negative Ghost Rider...pattern is full."
Some movies worth mentioning are "St. Elmo's Fire", "Pretty in Pink" and "Sixteen Candles".
ba-ding! Vision Quest!! I remember going to that film thinking I'd hate it, but endied up liking it. Same thing with "When Harry Met Sally". Man I yelled, jumped up and down, would not go, would not go, then finally went, and liked it better than the girlfriend at the time who bugged me for 3 weeks to go see it. I liked Vision Quest as I recall- it was 80's, but like 80s trying to be thematically timeless...

I didn't see the movie, but I had the soundtrack which had some good tunes on it. I also cheated and asked my wife. She confirmed it before I posted. She's a walking 80's database.
Mrs. Dovetails thinks "Footloose" or "Breakfast Club" would be her picks for "most defining" movies.
