opinions...need yours, not sure I'm okay w/ it but I'll ask anyway.

I have worked at the WGC (golf course) about 7 years now. About a year ago a new guy named Dave was hired to be a grounds keeper, he's 55. I'm 42, and I think he's cute. He's extremely nice, and today he told me he and his girlfriend broke up.

I (being the dork I am) was talking to him about camping. He said he went camping this past week, and I asked him if he went w/ his girlfriend.....he said, "we broke up"... and like a goofball, I had the crazy idea of saying, "well next time you go, give me a call, I'll go camping with you."

Ugh... I felt so stupid.... but he said, "okay, I will.".... I don't think he thought I was serious.

On that note, do you think 55 is too old for me. He really doesn't look that old. And his daughter is about Kaisha's age and out on her own.

Well, I think in general a guy being older is nothing out of the ordinary. 13 years is quite a difference, but what the heck, does it really matter?

It's not like you have a huge gap in life experience. At 42 you've seen about as much as he has at 55. If it's something you think could work out I don't think you should let age be a factor.

I don't think he's too old for you Darlene if you have things in common with him. My husband is 10 years older than me; I'm 47, he's 57.

Maybe you should ask Hugh Hefner for his opinion on this smile.gif

If you were in your 20s and he in his 30s, with a 13 year gap, it would be a little different then, but as JR said, you're probably both about in the same place now with life experiences.

Just to have a nice guy, and after 4 years of such a rocky relationship w/ a younger guy, I am thinking an older guy is probably better.

He's really good looking, he does look a bit older than me, but I look young for my age. Not tooting my own horn, but I don't think I look 42. But I am 42 so let's face it, some day we'd even out and look the same when I'm 55 and he's 68

I don't think its too much difference right now, but if it was me, I'd be considering the future if it worked out for you and you got married. Of course none of us know what the future holds, but with that age difference, you could end up spending a lot of later years alone.

Again, I'm not saying I think its a bad idea, but its something to think about.

Darlene, in the grand scheme of things, so what if he looks older than you?  If you two are compatible in a lot of areas, that's the only thing that should matter.

He's in better shape, *body wise, than I am, he's lean and very energenic. He's a grounds keeper which is intense labor. He'd probably outl live me. hmm.gif

That's the only thing I worry about in my marriage Web, with him being 10 years older than me.  Usually the man goes first, and I'll be looking at a long time alone if it happens that way.

My husband's 39 and I'm 27. So obviously, I think age makes no difference.

Go for it D.....you are only as old as you feel (or look in some people's case)....remember how much love there was between Anna Nicole Smith and her old hubby....what was it 50 years or so????they were in love!

No really, age shouldn't make that much of a difference now....you are bothy "old" enough to know what you are getting into!

I like older men... I once had a fling...ahem...in my pre marriage days...ahem... with a policeman who was 21 years older than me....and when I think of him now lol he'd be 63....but he still brings a smile to my face and i still wish I was in touch with him...just for friendship use of course now...
I don't think age matters a great deal - I think it depends on what the two individuals think about it!

I'm not even sure he likes me...yet! I kinda ambushed him w/ the call me next time thing! But I have the asst. golf pro at the golf course working on the "matchmaking", and he's going to see if Dave feels "anything" for me or would consider a date?? We'll have to wait and see

Darlene, you know you could always ask him if he'd care to get a cup of coffee or a drink before/after work. Unless you're not comfortable asking, of course.  That would be a way to find out if he's interested.

Yeah, I was thinking that. I have his phone number too, and he is a kinda "Fill In" last minute guy if you need a bartending shift covered. He'll fill in for us if we need a quick cover. But he's made it clear to call if you are desperate, because he already works 50+ hours out on the grounds...... so on that note I was thinkin' of calling him one night and asking him out, but I have chickened out so far.

You could always try the "Excuse me? Will you marry me?" route.

Ask him in person the next time you see him. That might be better if his phone number was given out to fill in at work.

Yeah, I will. I was coming out the door to the liquor room the other day and it has glass door on it, and as I turned around after locking it up, I spun around and he was standing behind me..... I don't know what it is, I always smile when I see him and say hello.

We always chat, (small talk) and something about him is intriguing..... and he's left handed, I like left handed guys..... quirky, I know!

I don't think there is a problem with age, you could always write on a piece of paper, Do you like Darlene? Circle yes or no. That's the way I used to do it! nod.gif

And AC circled no, but Sparky cheated....he erased her answer and changed it to yes.

I told her she should've used a pen! hmm
