Everything's good, I suppose.

Man, it's AWESOME to see you on the forum again. I honestly thought you were lost forever. We've had a lot of old timers come back lately, but I just didn't expect to see you ever again. I'm VERY happy to have been wrong!

I was blocked out for a while, but I guess I'm not anymore...which rules by the way!

Hey. It's just like family, man. You don't talk for a while but it's like you can always pick back up right where you left off.

That's very true. You're like the aunt that moved out of state and now we only see her for weddings and funerals hmm.gif

Hi Pambo!

I hope we get to chat with you more again.

Update us on the medical stuff. So none of the things you were going to try helped?

Medical stuff? Dang. I was trying to avoid that.

Let's see. I still have Trigeminal Neuralgia. Taking all kinds of meds to combat that pain. Doesn't really work. The meds just make me stupid.

What seems to work for me is acupuncture. I know. I'm a skeptic but after a year of dealing with pain via needles & electrical stimulation, I gotta reluctantly say it actually works. I didn't want it to work, but it does. I still have my moments so I get "tune ups" every couple of months or so. Keeps the worst of the pain at bay.

Finally had a physical done after 5 years of skipping. I'm not going in to it, but I have to have some surgery next month. Freaking out a little but that's what I get for skipping for so long.

My husband is still dealing with his lupus. No major set backs recently. He's mostly okay.

I have 2 grandkids now. One has surgery looming as well. He's got sleep apnea so they're gonna take out the tonsils & adenoids to see if that helps him not try to die every night. Plus, maybe he won't snore like crazy anymore.

That's about it for med stuff in the Pambo household.

Getting old kinda sux. hmm.gif

Accupuncture is great, and I'm glad it's helping you. Why do you say you didn't want it to work? weirdface.gif

It still beats the alternative Pambo smile.gif

I'm happy to hear you're getting SOME relief.  I've always heard acupuncture really works.  I always assumed it was because your mind was too busy thinking about the 20 pins stuck in you to focus on the original pain smile.gif

Because I have never been an alternative medicine person. Give me pills. Take an X-ray. Draw blood. Figure it out.

I was desperate though so I decided it wasn't likely to HURT anything. I might as well TRY it.

I was fortunate enough to find a medical doctor who also practices acupuncture. So it was a way for a skeptic such as myself to make it okay to try. "He's a REAL doctor, not just some dude with pins." smile.gif

This doctor is also studying the effect of acupuncture on Trigeminal Neuralgia. My case is pretty complicated so it's apparently worthy of study. He's told me that I'm the subject of one of his papers.

He also likes the fact that I'm a total skeptic. He said that it makes it even more important to the study because I don't WANT it to work...but it still works. biggrin.gif

Oh.  I'm completely the opposite!  I would rather try "alternative" medicine before having to take a pill.  That's always the last option for me.

Sometimes I wish I was able to try different things. Mostly I just wish I wouldn't crack up while doing it.

The last yoga class I went to was taught by this hippie-ish guy. He was humming & puffing & making all kinds of weird noises while doing all these odd poses. It was all I could do to keep concentrating on my own pretzeled body without insulting him with my peals of laughter.

I have yoga DVDs now.

Several of my friends are trying this new synergistic massage thing. They're all trying to get me to do it, but all I keep thinking about is that they're a cult or something. Or they'll try to get me into a time share in Boca. Or they'll want me to buy Nikes, shave my head & drink the koolaid or something. I wouldn't get benefit from it because I would be too busy laughing because of my paranoia.

Pambo, my aunt was the same with acupuncture and her migraines. She was skeptical, but she had been to so many doctors and nothing worked. Now she swears by the acupuncture.

My brother used and is still using accupuncture for withdrawal symptoms for his addiction habit he kicked...working quite well for him so far.

Dr. OO EE OO AH AH (Pambo's accupuncturist) rocks! I'm none too convinced that the synergistic massage wackadoo people are a good idea though. Sounds like a crew of folks relieving you of $80 a pop for a rub down while they get you to patiently wait for Hale-Bopp's return.

Now you understand why I always crack up at these things. I keep hearing Mema's voice saying things like THAT.

That's my job, mang... to make you laugh. I possibly would have been a bit less skeptical about the massage-o-philes but the way you described that to me... you know how my mind works. I'm picturing Touchy The Clown copping a feel while lifting a stack of dead presidents out of your bank account. Nik and Vic going all Earth Mother Giver Goddess and Weeping Wanda cuz someone massaged them...let's not even get into the guy who was chicken dancing on the table. I'm all for anything that helps, but trust me... the Hale-Bopp dudes got nothing out of it but a new pair of Nikes, severe buzz cuts, and neutered.

And Mema's back too! clap.gif

Pam, I would be like you as a skeptic on the pin cushion thing, but hey, if it helps, it helps. Thats great that you found something that is helping make the pain manageable.
