The house sold yesterday . . . the owner followed through and signed the papers so its no longer our problem. Now we have to deal with the piles and boxes of "stuff" we have. This week, I'm going to work on a shelving project in the basement for some of this stuff.
Awe c'mon . . . you expect me to believe that of all the kite flying, wood craftsmen, computer specialist, bass players you know . . . I'm your favorite?
Its good that the house sold so quickly for you guys. If you need storage for things for awhile, those PODS storage facilities are pretty neat. Do They have those in Nebraska?
in reference to your questioning your standing with me, I will breake it down...
I have been told to go fly a kite...so you are the only other kite flyer I know. I have several carpenter friends, family and aquaintances.... I know several computer lovin' folk.... I have seen my fair share of bass players...
I wont lie, the balloting was close in a couple areas...
Yes, I think there is a guy that rents out storage containers. I don't think its the "Pod" brand, but I think we can get something similar.
We talked about doing that with everything just to get the house empty fast, but then we decided that knowing all of us, if we did that, the container would sit there and take forever to get through and empty. We decided that it would be best to push through it and divide and disperse of everything now as we haul it out. This way each family is responsible for their own stuff.
Wow, a five hour rehearsal? You guys must be the Marathon Band.
I don't have anything special planned. I've got my normal Saturday server stuff running. I need to move some files here from my laptop to my server here and do some cleanup on it. Gotta drag hoses around the lawn today and get some water on it.
Its gonna be hot today and tomorrow. 99 today and 100 tomorrow in the forecast.
I'm kind of bummed, I don't get to play this week. We don't have a contemporary piano player so our leader will just lead a few hymns. No bass for me.
The rehearsal time includes set up, sound check and some general blabbing...I would say actual playing includes less than 3 hours of playing. There are some weeks we dont rehearse because of schedule conflicts...so, not as long a marathon as it seems.
I do have fun with it.
Sorry to hear about the heat coming your way...but months from now, you will be saying..."at least we didnt have to shovel humidity"
I usually get the music plan on Tuesday or Wednesday for that week. I then practice every day to prepare. So, on a typical week, I may not play on Monday or Tuesday if I don't have the schedule yet. Once in a while, I just want to play before I have the list so I'll just turn on my drum machine software on the laptop and noodle along with it.
We have a new singer starting next week. She's a good singer and she really has a heart for worship. I think its going to be great having her with us as she has a lot of genuine emotion in her praise.
We play a college coffe house again some time in October also.
We are switching recording studios, so we go in starting August 23rd. This new engineer is amazing.
I am also calling in some favors with some area musicians and will finally be recording a "Pro Life" song I wrote 4 years ago. Coming to a Christian radio station near you hopefully.
That is exciting, getting a new singer for Sunday Worship. A new person always changes the dynamic and can take things on an interesting tangent
Yeah, we had a lady join that was the high school music teacher. She sings beautifully and plays piano quite well too. Unfortunately, she lost her job and had to move. I think she was only with us about 6 weeks or so.
I think we could use one more singer. You could use the LND company jet to come join us on Sunday's.
Nah, I just had to take the laptop to the basement to print off some CD labels. I burn the sermons to CD for the church "each week". Except, I'm 9 CD's behind and someone wants a copy of one of them so I gotta get caught up.
Its so darn hot we decided to not go to the parade tonight. Its starting in 10 minutes. The parade is the beginning of the county fair. The boy is a little disappointed. My wife is happy that the bank decided to not do a float or be in the parade this year so we're gonna sit it out at home.
We decided to get a couple movies instead. A "Veggie Tales" movie for the boy, and "3:10 To Yuma" for us.
well today turned out to be a pretty productive day. At the Buddhist Center, an important light on the altar had been burnt out for some time. At first, it was thought that simply the bulb was bad, and it was, but so was the replacement. a third bulb that was tested was good, but would still not light. so then I thought well hopefully its the starter, and not the ballast. I'm ok with switching out the starter, but the ballast is surgery to the point where its just easier to switch out the entire fixture than to even find the correct ballast. The starter wasn't the answer, so the fixture had to come out.
The problem was that this fixture was the original mounted within an expensive wooden butsudan. The cord ran down an internal mounted wooden casing that would neither allow the fixture or even the 2 prong plug to be pulled through easily. So I needed to ah never mind.
