Just playing the role the Jazz Doctor usually takes and trying to start some interesting new topics.
So what little known artist's CD do you have that you love? Perhaps you can turn some of us onto someone new!
For me, it's Suzanne Rhatigan, her disc is titled TO HELL WITH LOVE, and was released in the late 80's I beleive (maybe early 90's). It's got kind of a bluesy sound to it that I really enjoy. I had seen her on a late night talk show and liked the song, so I started a search for the CD. It wasn't easy because no one was carrying it, and it was before the days of the internet.
I eventually did find it, but it turned out the disc only sold like 20,000 copies!
Another good one for me and one I'd recommend to almost anyone is Quarterflash's LAST album. Obviously they were a semi-popular group in the 80's, but their last album BACK INTO BLUE was almost completely ignored despite being in my opinion their best disc.
It had a really good sound to it, with the horns really taking center stage on most of the songs. Songs like WALKING ON ICE, BACK INTO BLUE, CAUGHT IN THE RAIN and I WANT TO BELEIVE IT'S YOU just really kind of set a mood from the minute they start playing.
If you get a chance to buy the disc (it's long out of print so you'd have to get a used copy), and you liked Quarterflashes 80's hits, DEFINATELY TRY THIS ONE OUT!
I love Bang Tango's "Psycho Cafe". Don't know why, but I love it. We need some Bang Tango on the playlist. "Someone Like You" was there only big hit that I know of.
