They say they are going to let him compete for the starting job. Like we don't know who will win and deserves it. I wonder what Rodgers thinks. The true question is this: who needs a quarterback that can play right now ans are willing to give Green Bay the farm to get Farve? The second question is: how long before he is traded?

I heard Favre is only interested in being traded to the Vikings, should he be traded. But of course we aren't going to send him anywhere within our division.
I bet Rodgers is pissed, can't blame him, but let em shoot it out then for the starting position then. talk means nothin, performance does.
I guess they'll decide today and announce tonight, is what I heard.

The Chiefs. no.gif Cept they got no farm to give. Gave it all away to get Joe Montana way back when... as if it helped. Yeah, I can say it... I'm a Chiefs fan.

I wouldn't want to trade him within the division either.

Puh-leeeeeeeeze.  Let's be honest Darlene, Brady is FAR from a class act.  Other than on the football field.  But it's easy to be classy when you're always winning.  Brett Favre was ALWAYS considered a class act during his first 16 years with the Pack, so there's still time for Brady to show himself to be no better in that area either.

And on a PERSONAL level?  Favre beats Brady hands down.

I like ya Darlene, but I think you're suffering from a little homerism nana.gif

Speaking of class acts, not sure if it's true or not, but MSNBC is reporting that after their marathon talk last night Favre came to the decision he doesn't want to disrupt the chemistry of the team and that his return to Green Bay would do just that.  Talk of a trade is back on the table.

Again, that's just a rumor from MSNBC at this point.

well at least ya like me..... that's a good thing.

I don't know Tom personally...(though I'd like 20 minutes w/ him, that's all I'd need).... or Favre, so can't compare... and I don't want any minutes w/ Favre. nana.gif

Well, if you DID want 20 minutes with Favre you'd have to fight off his extremely devoted wife.

If you want 20 minutes with Brady I hear it's not too hard to get. You just gotta be a model and then take a number wink.gif

I feel like we're in elementary school.

BF "I'm tired, I don't want to play anymore."

BF "Can I play?"
GB "You said you didn't want to play anymore, so we found someone else to play with us."
BF "But I want to play!!!"
GB "Here, we'll give you a cookie if you don't play."
BF "But I want to play!!!"
GB "Fine, you can come play with us."
BF "I don't want to play with you."

Argh! I'm sick of hearing about it!

It has gone on for about four weeks too long ain't it?

There's just been too many mis-steps on both sides. This should have been dealt with in about a week.

My opinion: He should stay retired. Favre is a fantastic quarterback. I really enjoyed watching him play. He had an amazing career. But, he decided to retire... and tearfully announced it to the world. Hard decision, sure... but LET IT GO. Walk with some dignity. If he doesn't, then he will be the butt of the joke all season long. Every mis-step, missed play, and loss will be blamed on him, his fault or not. That would be a shame.

Yeah, I was thinking about that.

Personally I want him back because we have no other quarterbacks with any experience at all really, but you're right, a bad throw, a bad game, and a lot of the "fans" will be yelling that he should have stayed retired.

I think he'd be under just as much scrutiny as people fear Rodgers will be.

thats exactly the way it sounds and I couldn't agree more on being sick of hearing about it!

Like I said, it should have been over a long time ago.

Favre shouldn't have retired. Once he did, if he wanted to come back he and the team should have handled it internally before it hit the press.

The thing is, I believe Thompson wanted him to move on three years ago.

He will be sorry when the Packers suck for the next number of years as the rookies learn to play.

It is always sad to see the great ones leave the game. Believe me... I wish the Chiefs had a quarterback. I wish we had ANYBODY. A "building year" sucks... we are having YET ANOTHER one here in KC..., but in the long run it would be the best thing for both Favre and the Packers organization. In football years, great as the man is, he is 3 days older than God. It is time for him to pass the ball to someone else and walk away with his head held high.

I thought they might FINALLY be softening their stance against Favre because Rodgers has looked like CRAP in camp so far.

But it seems like their frustration is getting in the way of doing whats best for the team.

Even Tim Curran, who has ripped Favre a new one for the past month on MSNBC.com has switched sides effective today. He's convinced the top of the Packers organization is now just being spiteful and putting whats best for the team on the back burner.

He's there, he talks to McCarthy, and feels they've been quite petty and dishonest.

You know, I used to think that too.  But over the years I've come to beleive players aren't really judged on their final years.  It doesn't tarnish their legacy to hang on too long.

I mean, Reggie White retired one off-season, then changed his mind and played another average year with the Pack, then he retired for a whole year, came back out of retirement to play with Tenessee for a mostly crappy year and finally retired for real.

I never think of that stuff when I think of White, and I never notice anyone in the Press talking about it.  He's just referred to as the Packer great and people think about the good years, not the bad.

I'd rather see Favre leave to late than too early.

However, I have to admit I'm spoiled.  I came to football late.  My first year of being a fan was the year he first came to Green Bay.  He's the only quarterback I've ever known.  It hurts to see him go if he doesn't have to.

I also remember 93 and 94 listening to Joe Montana lead the KC Cheifs back from behind in the final two minutes on Monday night football.  That was one of the best games I ever listened to (I was working so I couldn't watch).

Had he called it quits instead of going to KC I woulda been deprived of that.

Why you wanna deprive me potential joy Mema, WHY?  What did I ever do to you?  tears.gif

I don't even want to deprive ME of potential joy. Somebody has to have a good team this year. I just happen to know the heartbreak of what can happen. Yes... Joe Montana did have some terrific games in KC. We were SOOOOO happy when he came here to QB our team. Hopes were high... we just KNEW he was going to win us the Superbowl. Alas, no... not his fault, but every bad play was viewed as "And how much did we pay for this guy?". One man cannot do it alone (ask Larry Johnson). After having our hopes for a purchased Superbowl dashed, he traded back to the 49ers and retired. KC in misery again, feeling like a pathetic footnote on his playing card. I'm sure it is all viewed differently in San Francisco but here we just shake our heads. If Favre is traded to the Vikings, I have a feeling the same thing will happen.

Well, I will not watch a Packer game again if Favre is TRADED to the Viqueens or the Bears.

If he's released and signs there that's one thing, but if our front office is so stupid as to trade him to one of our hated rivals then I can't support them anymore.

I think Favre in Minnesota equals an NFC Championship game. The only thing that team is missing is a quarterback.

Will he win the superbowl? Probably not. He certainly hasn't performed well for us in the playoffs the last four or five years. But he'll get em' further than they'll go without him.

I just wish it would come to a resolution so we know what's going on, whatever it is. Go back to Kiln and retire, get a shot at the QB job on the Pack with an open competition or sign with another team. Whatever it is, just get it done already.

I need to clarify that last post.  I will not watch another Packer game while Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy are at the helm if they trade Favre.  Once those fools are gone I'll be back.  smile.gif

I'll be honest... I'll still watch the games. Why? Cuz they just might win even if they don't have a QB. More than I can say for the Chiefs... incidentally, I will still watch them play. I will still wear my Larry Johnson dress (my jersey is WAY oversized). I will try to not weep as I watch them get whooped week after week, and yes... I will still get hammered while tailgating when I get my best friend's season tickets to see the occassional game in person.
