I don't know, I suppose at 7 years old Logan is too old for this, but it might just be worth it for you and Mrs. Web to just keep having another kid every 3 or 4 years considering how much you hate mowing.
We could have used that but he's on his way with the real mower now. He really wants to help me so I go around edges, the hill, and the harder stuff then he does the flat parts.
Right now he loves to help doing stuff (even though sometimes its easier to still do it ourselves) but we figure it won't be long and we'll have to fight to get him to help.
It's so cool when they still think it's fun. That'll end when he hits about 11 I bet. Then it'll be a chore and he'll expect a bump in the allowance to keep helping.
I had to start mowing the lawn when I was 8 years old. That was with the pushmower. My father continued to ride around on the tractor for a few more years. I finally got the tractor when I was about 11. And I didn't get an allowance.

I got a lousy $2 allowance (which even in the 80's was NOTHING) for basically being the house slave. Whatever I was told to do I had to do, if I questioned it I was told it was part of my allowance.
When I started cutting the lawn I got another $2 a week.
My Dad apologized about ten years ago. Said he never really thought about it but $2 a week in allowance was a joke. I said yeah, but I wasn't laughing
Luckily I had a nice milk and lunch ticket scam going at school, along with a side business of buying kids candy and chips at lunch from the corner store for a considerable mark-up. I lived so close to the school I was the only one allowed to go home for lunch.
Also, the nice neighbor lady would pay me $5.00 a week and a plate of cookies for mowing her lawn.
My brother got stuck with lawn mowing. My sister was the dish washer. I was in charge of vacuuming the stairs. If memory serves me, we got like $2.50 a week. I'm here to tell you... to this day I detest vacuuming stairs. I would rather have been stuck with both the mowing AND the dishes. You should have heard my mother laugh when she came over to check out my house... 2 stories with a full basement... 12 steps to the upstairs, 12 steps to the basement... all carpeted.

I think the putting out of the trash, dusting, dishes, vacuuming and whatever else my parents decided needed to be done earned us $1 a week. You think your $2 was bad JR - huh?

Ok, Ok. But did I mention the $2 a week was in "Dad Dollars"? You knew I got that idea from SOMEWHERE didn'tcha?
Mine neither Pambo. As members of this family, my girls do chores without pay; after all, I don't get paid to clean house, do dishes, cook, do laundry, take out trash, feed & water the dog, etc., etc. so why should they get paid to do it?
They have spending money that I give them, but it certainly isn't an allowance.
