253

Consecutive games Brett Favre started as a Packer

15

Number of quarterbacks the Jets have used in that span.

you know this whole thing as been so awkward and weird, I can't say I'm sorry to see him go. Its not been about football at all its been about babysitting him. Its like a prize fighter not knowing when to hang it up.

Now lets focus on the ******* game and getting ready for the season and the future of the team in Green Bay.

Too bad. I would have thought he fit better and would have better chance of winning in Tampa Bay. Oh well. It is finally over. Except you know it isn't over.

And so it begins... I hope the Jets fans are good to him while he is there and the Packers fans will welcome him back when he trades back to retire.

Favre will always be a Packer. Just like Joe Montana was always a 49er. You can put him in another uniform and on another team, but it will never take.

This is horrible. HORRIBLE.

I hope Aaron Rodgers breaks ANOTHER something in game two and we go 2 - 14.

BAD MANAGEMENT. They should have worked things out with Favre. I can not believe we are going into this season without a single quarterback that has ever started an NFL game and hope to make the playoffs. What a joke.

And you're wrong Darlene. This isn't the WORST he could have done. Chicago would have been the worst. Minnesota would have been second worst.

The Jets however are BAD, REAL BAD. Because of their market. IF somehow they win the Superbowl with Favre it will seriously tarnish his legacy. Because of their market size he'd go down in a lot of peoples minds as a New York Jet.

I hate this. I was ready for Tampa Bay, but I thought New York was out of the question.

I am a very sad football fan today.

Deep down in my heart Favre was more than a football player. He was the heart and soul of the Packers and to have him play for someone else is just unfathomable.

My love of baseball was diminished by two things. The trade of Gorman Thomas from the Brewers to the Indians when I was 15 and the release of Paul Molitor when I was in my 20's.

That really taught me sports are a business. No loyalty involved.

Now this really hurts my love of football.

It's so hard these days to support a team because the players are greedy and go where the money is. You're supporting a jersey, not human beings. I felt like Favre was different. He was going to be a Packer until he died because he WANTED to be a Packer.

Well, he still wanted to be a Packer, but amazingly this team with no proven quarterbacks couldn't find room for him on their "all-star" roster.

SCREW THEM!

But JR - you can watch the Packer games now. They didn't trade him in the division. And the Jets won't trade him this year because they will lose too much in the next draft.

You're right Fuzzy, but unfortunately I'll be watching in the hopes they're horrible.  I hope they're cursed until the day Favre finally DOES retire.

There is not a single other player I actually really like on the Green Bay Packers.  It was Favre and a bunch of other guys to me.  The last star quality player I actually liked was Javon Walker and he turned out to be an a**.

I will watch this year and it'll be fun, because I'm actually going to enjoy watching them get their butts kicked and then watching the fallout for the three stooges (Thompson, McCarthy & Murphy) in the '09 off-season.

I was sad to see Favre go...It was a privilege to watch him play...the Packers could have given him a little more consideration...the Packers GM and coach treated him like 1 of 80 on the roster, and although Favre was not bigger than the team, he did alot for our franchise.  The Packers clearly would have been better with him than without...

but...

I am going to predict, the Packers will still win 9 to 11 games this year...

They still have a good defense...

They still have a very good running back...

And we have a young talented unproven QB...just like in 92 when a a kid from Southern Miss took the field for us.

I'll give the WI press credit, they're not letting these guys off easy.

I'm watching the press conference live and a few of them are really pressing them for straight forward answers instead of the cliche crap they love to spew.
