Mark Murphy the new President is new to the job, but pretty accomplished.
Ted Thompson is not the most charismatic guy, but a pretty good evaluator of talent.
Mike McCarthy is a very good coach.
There was no way they could win this PR nightmare...and I am convinced Favre had alot to do with his departure...I wish Favre could have gotten past the hurt feelings....
But the fact remains Green Bay is still a good football team, in large part because of the "3 stooges"
The Bears and Vikes are less settles at QB than we are...and the Lions arent boasting an all star at the position...I still see the division as there for the taking.
At least both those teams have some experience at the QB position.
Mark my words, Rodgers will not make it through this season uninjured. And we'll be left playing one of two draft picks or scrambling to beg Testaverde to come out of retirement.
Serious contenders don't go into a season with nothing more than 5 quarters of mop up experience at the QB position
GOOD GOD THEY HAD A VETERAN QUARTERBACK UNDER CONTRACT
I would have been fine had they taken him back and made him be the backup and I wouldn't have cared if he didn't like it as long as Rodgers was proving he was the better starter. He was UNDER contract, make him honor it.
Favre wasnt gonna come back to be a back up...that would have divided the locker room...
They need to know what they have in Rogers...
I think they would have been a better team with Favre than without him...but Favre isnt the veteran they wanted...they want someone who is willing to come in and back up Rogers...
I think there is more to this story than we are hearing...I dont think we will ever know the whole thing...I just hope that at some point, Favre reconects with the franchise when he eventually does retire.
I am still a Favre fan and I too will be rooting for the Jets...
but there will be 52 other Packers that comprise that team besides the starting QB. Favre was the face of the franchise...but the team is 89 years old and alot of great players have played for them...but in the end...it is a team sport, careers end eventually and the team still competes.
It was a privilege to watch Favre and he is probably the greatest QB that will ever play for GB...but this day was looming for ahwile now.
I will continue to be a Packer fan, The Chargers are my AFC team...and I will be a jet fan because of Favre.
Well, you never know Fuzzy. The NFL is known for teams that go from 4 - 12 to 12 -4.
They spent a lot of money in the off-season, brought in some good free agents, and Dylan always liked to say that if Brett Favre is on your team you have a good chance to win every week. That doesn't change because he's in a Jet's uniform.
I bet this team makes a wild card run.
It could go either way for Brett. He might embarass himself and not be nearly as good as last year, or he could be so motivated that he tears up the league.
The one question I have is how he's going to handle the NY Media. He's being heralded now, but they'll rip him apart if he slips up. And Brett Favre is many things, but thick skinned is not one of them.
