I really wanted to be a polotician, once. However, I will not do that to my kids. I can take whatever they want to dish to me, but kids should be left out of it. Too bad nothing is sacred anymore.
But CP! If you became a politician out there your kids could probably get to meet Ah-nold!!!!
If he had admitted it, I could have accepted it. I still would say that extramarital affairs are wrong, but I could have accepted it for what it was.
The thing that really made me lose all respect for Clinton was when he looked into that camera and shook his pointy little thumb at each and every one of us and said "I did not have sex with that woman!" THAT is when I realized this was a man of no integrity . . . not that he had the fling, but that he was willing to lie to each and every person of a country that he supposedly swore to serve.
I totally agree with you, the lying does make it all so much worse. I remember having a conversation about Nixon with a guy I used to work with. He was probably in his 30's when Nixon was in office and was a die hard hater. He asked me why my generation thinks Nixon is a great statesman and how we could possibly embrace him as we do. I told him that since my generation is the post Camelot, post Watergate, 24-hour news cycle set, our expectations are significantly lowered where it comes to ideal public figures. This is the world we know. As CP pointed out, nothing is sacred. We know the dirt is there and will come forth. Just deal with it honestly and let us judge if we want to vote for you. John Edwards learned from Bill Clinton all too well.. he apparently did not have s*x with that woman either. Let's just hope he got it right about not being the father so all this can just go away. He's not going to get the VP nod, so its time for him to fade from the national headlines.
