This is probably gonna be a dumb question, but have you ever had "homegown" popcorn? I used to work with a guy that grew his own popcorn, and every Christmas he'd give me a couple of fruitjars of it for a gift. That was the best popcorn!!

Yup. JR and I were just chatting about that.

My grandpa used to plant popcorn every year. In the fall we'd all go help him pick and shell it then he'd give us all a bunch of it. Between sweet corn and pop corn, we were true Cornhuskers a couple days a year.

My father-in-law used to do some farming. He'd plant 60 acres of corn and this time of year, he'd take me out in the field to pick corn to bring home. He always took me way out in the field too, never close to the edge. The first time he took me out with him, he went a few rows over when I wasn't looking. I got lost in the dang corn field for a few hours, couldn't find my way out. He laughed and laughed when I finally found my way out. I must've walked all over that 60 acres. hmm

I didn't; I truly thought I was lost and was wondering what the heck I was gonna do!! The way all those farmers' fields connect, I could've walked way over into the next county and never would've known. So before the next summer came, I had my dad teach me how to read a compass. I never got lost in the cornfield again, haha.
