This active Michigan cemetery is well-known for it's ghostly apparitions, including orbs, vortexes, voices, cold spots, shadowy figures, and various full apparitions. The grave of a witch whose name was apparently Elizabeth is located here somewhere.
Soop Cemetery was originated around 1800 and is apparently now referred to as Pleasantview Cemetery. Stories abound about groundskeepers who have noticed odd phenomena, especially around the witch's grave, who afterwards refuse to do maintenance in that vicinity. Many reports of a menacing growling sound have been reported when entering the cemetery at night, and other reports of voices and strange sounds are fairly common here. By all reports, this is a site with a lot of unusual phenomena, and there are many success stories as far as getting this phenomena on film and on tape. As such, this a must-see site for amateurs and professionals alike who find themselves in the Belleville area.
Wow, they have vortexes going on there and growling sounds??!! THAT IS CREEPY!!! I know where Belleville is. Who wants to go with me to this place??
If I ever get to Michigan to visit we'll have to do a ghost trip one evening.
I've got six different sets of rechargeables for my digital camera, but unfortunately only one for the mini dvd camcorder. BUT I have tripods for each of them and an extra one for you if you need it.
Wow! You got the setup Ghost! I wanna buy a digital recorder too. I've got that same software that Jay & Grant use for listening to the sounds and identifying the EVP's.
I can bring my laptop, we'll have quite the setup.
I was at Sam's club last fall and they had those night vision cameras like they use on Ghosthunters. A set of three with a monitor for like $400. I can't tell you how close I was to buying them
She could bring her husband along for protection, he's a hunter. We just wont tell him WHAT we're hunting until we get there!
Here's another haunted cemetary in MI:
Belleville - Union Cemetery Located on Textile Rd., many people have reported seeing blue orbs streak through the graveyard, mainly in the front section where the older graves are. There are many faint whispers heard throughout these grounds, and some have reported hearing chains rattling on many occasions , at the front - right of the cemetery near the woods. Sometimes, if you go there between 4 & 6 AM, it sounds very congested ( like in a mall ) and you can hear many people whistling back and forth as you walk towards the front of the cemetery, it's very mystical & amazing the first time you hear this . But, the closer you get to the front, the louder the whistling gets and it turns into chanting . Not sure what happens if you stay after the chanting starts, people usually leave.
Cheboygan - Hykes Tomb An old farmer went insane and killed his family and then himself. If you go to the site at night you are overwhelmed with fright. And you should never take a stone from the tomb, or you will pay for it later & it won't be pretty! Many people have experienced electrical malfunctions and cars not starting, 2 people drove over the tomb on purpose and their truck died. The people in the car behind them had the steering wheel jerked and they crashed into a tree.

Night vision cameras huh?? Hmm, me thinks you were thinking of using those for something other than ghost hunting.
Oooo, a recorder to catch EVP's would be really cool to have. Man, I'd try it out all over the place!!!!
I've wanted to try it out in my Dad's old bedroom to see if we could find anything.
We had a pretty good event happen a year after he passed that makes me think he was there. But I don't know if he still is. Nothing happened since then, so maybe it was his goodbye before leaving us for good.
NOOOOOOOOOOO!!! The night cameras would have been exclusively for ghost hunting! We had a couple stories in our family I thought it would be fun to investigate.
If you come to MI, you better plan on staying a few days so we can check out some of these. They're not located anywhere near each other; we'll have lots of driving to do.
ok I found the one I was talking about. Close to wher I grew up again
Inkster - Union Chapel Cemetery - Union Chapel is on Michigan Ave. just passed Inkster Rd. It sits up on a hill and is easy to miss if you don't know where it is. There is a grave marker of a little girl aged 9 years old by the name of Mary Jane Walker who died Jan. 6 1866. If you ask her she may allow her picture to be taken. I tried this and got one picture that shows a vortex.

That's a cool one! Definitely have to add it to the route. We can do a live FFR broadcast from the cemetary one night if there's a cellular signal there!
But there'd be only silence from my walkie talkie! ooooooooooh spooky.
I'm on my way to check out the recorder right now!
THIS Michigan story might be too scary to check out. I can just see the four of us in the car screaming like little girls when the ghost is in the car with us!
Straville, MI - Marrow Road Go there around 2 AM, park near the bridge, roll down your windows and place your keys on the dash board, and wait. As soon as you see him ( a glowing transparent light that comes from the woods) , it's only about a second and he's in your car before you can get your keys and start the car !
