Thursday

I'm sad this morning.  Last night I had a chance to call in to a radio station to talk to Gideon Emery, and I blew it by calling 1 minute too late. cry

Hi everyone.

I just heard "Ring of Fire" the Johnny Cash song, on the radio on my way into work... but it was done by someone else. It was very good. Anyone know of who could be singing it these days??

My morning has gone sour. I'm officially pissy now. My lunch would not fit in my lunchbox so I grabbed a grocery bag. I have my grocery bag with my lunch but somewhere I set my actual lunch box down that had my breakfast. So I try and get a caffeinated pop at the vending machine and it gives me no pop but it eats my whole dollar. So now I have no change to grab a danish from the other vending machine. No one has change but Glo gave me a Chex Mix bar. It's not much but it's something. Then I get to my computer and my program will not open. i try to open Firefox and it will not fully load. After trying to give it time I just ended up shutting the computer down and starting. I wish I could go home and start over. cry

220px-Gideon_emery_429.jpgMy new favorite actor.  I discovered him earlier this year.  He's a screen actor, voice actor, stage actor, comedian, singer, and probably more.  His voice is marvelous.  I've got his acapella version of My Funny Valentine on the request list.  If you're listening in, I'll request it so you can hear it.  He's not only good looking and talented, he's also super nice.  I heard My Funny Valentine on YouTube, and I asked about it, and he emailed it to me.  Later he mentioned that he did a whole album of jazz standards, and he mailed a CD to me.  Coolest actor ever.

And last night I could've talked to him if I would've gotten up the courage sooner.

Morning gang. The end of the work week is near and I can't wait it's arrival. I am not sure how the day is going to ge yet. My boss left some cryptic messages (nothing new) and I have to have a research project completed by noon. Yeah, you know that I am not finding the information I need.

Work on!

Gideon Emery, never heard of him; but he's good looking....

Day two of school... Isaac loved his first day of Kindergarten; Jake did not get sent to the office...

Tulsa metro weather is cloudy and humid; possible showers; high around 85. Is this really August?

Office energy is chipper! I think I need more coffee to fit in....

Smiles Everyone! Smiles!

Hello all.

Today I think I'm going to call the auto dealer and try to negotiate a better price on that four year warranty finally. I've been putting it off because I wasn't sure if I wanted it and because I HATE negotiating. I'm horrible at it. But I gotta get it done, and it's gotta be today or tomorrow.

MZ, I read your blog. I'm surprised you were so nervous, I knew you liked the guy but you never seemed the type to get star-struck to me. I would have expected you to be as cool as a cucumber talking to a celebrity.

Darlene, before I head outta NC I gotta get to a Durham Bulls game. Dont'cha LOVE minor league ball?

I sure do... and last night was under a tent w/ free food, and very close to the field. Very nice.

I've never really talked to a celebrity before, so I don't know for sure (and sure didn't get my chance last night, darnit).  I want to come off as being calm, cool, and collected.  So, I kind of plan out in my head what I want to say (and I only learned about the show yesterday, so I didn't get my pre-night daydreaming about it).  I had to come up with a question.  Then I was waiting for the right time to call in, there always seemed to be a caller lined up and frankly, I was enjoying listening.  I knew they were going to play some of his songs, and if he remembers me he'll know I like his music, so I thought it would be perfect to call in right after a song.  I also thought I had an extra half hour left, I didn't know I was calling in at the last minute.

And being at last night's game was like being at a football game..it was a bit chilly for baseball hmm.gif

So annoyed that the summer is over, and that the cold weather is actually here already.

And I try really hard to seem like a laid back person. I'm actually kind of shy, and I really work to overcome it. I think I do well, I don't think most people know I'm shy.

I didn't!

I'm a shy person too.  Unfortunately most people mistake my shyness for being stuck up.  Almost any job I've ever had I'll be told by people after they've known me for awhile that they thought I was conceited when they first met me because I would never talk to them.

The last five years or so I've gotten a LOT better though, now I'm much more likely to start up a conversation with anybody, even a stranger on the street.

The other person has to give a little back for me to really strike up a conversation.  Otherwise it stops at, "Hello.  How are you? I'm fine thanks."  If someone can ask me a question, then I can answer back and start talking to them, or if they tell me something about themself, I can usually find something to say related to that, but I just can rarely come up with that ice breaker question.

Right, that's kind of where I'm at too.

I'm willing/able to be the one to initiate a conversation by saying hello and making some small-talk type comment, but if the other persons personality is somewhat stand-offish or distant then that's where it ends. I think that's pretty normal.

You don't wanna be all pee-wee herman like and just keep talking when the other person clearly isn't a talker smile.gif

AA ball is great. Went Sunday night. Ticket about 15-20 rows off the field, homeplate was right there, a free hat, fireworks after the game and $1 hotdog night. Ticket = $9 (ordered online so it cost $2 extra for an actual total of $11), free parking and maybe 25-30 minute drive.

Who can't afford a night like that?

Even better. I have tickets for next Tuesday's game (I am on vacation that is the only reason I am going to a weekday game.) They have an all you can eat buffet for $11. I have built that into the price of the ticket. Why not? Probably would spend that on dinner if we went out to eat somewhere anyway. So now I will have ticket, dinner, free t-shirt and fireworks after the game. All for just $22. Plus, it appears that it is fan appreciation night. Maybe I will win a prize.

Game on!

I KNOW Fuzz! It's awesome.

Dylan and I used to go to Beloit Snapper games (the Brewers single A affiliate). It was crazy. $3 game ticket, $1 hot dogs.

We have a real nice single A stadium in Appleton and rumour has it that next year they're switching to be a Brewers double A affiliate. That would be GREAT! I'd go up there a couple times a year, then after the game hit the Oneida Casino clap.gif
