Those seminars are helpful JD, not only for info on taking care of your parents, but also giving you ideas of how to safeguard your own assets when you get old too.  I've been to a couple of those and picked up some useful information.

Plus you get lunch!!  smile

*I'm hungry*

my folks are going to vegas in september, and my grandma was joking (kinda)- "they're spending your inheritance money!"

I said hey thats fine. they don't have to leave me a dime. but they can't leave me with a bill.smile

Good afternoon all.

Insomnia Fest 2008 continued last night and what a night it was. Special guest "Driving Rain" came on at about 4 AM, the time I've NORMALLY been managing to fall asleep lately and produced two full and constant hours of what sounded like a semi-trailer driving by my bedroom window.

I'm not kidding, it was crazy loud. I haven't had much rain since I got here, so I never noticed it before, but my bedroom window is next to one of only three rain gutters on this side of the complex and it's collecting rain from a HUGE roof. It sounded like a raging river coming down the side of the house. Then there's some rubbery tarp things that they have around the central air units on the ground outside my window. When the rain is beating on them it's similar to listing to a drummer on crack. hmm.gif

Last time I saw the clock before I fell asleep it said 7:30. Ellie woke me up at 8:30 to go bathroom. I laid in bed from 9:00 untl 12:30 trying to fall asleep, but just kept getting little 10 minutes snoozes in. hmm.gif

THIS SUCKS!!!

sorry JR. I find that I need to have some constant white noise for me to sleep. I have a sound machine which I think I have set on rain and my husband usually has a fan on. Outside our window is the upstairs a/c. It is almost constantly running and I get used to it. But when it shuts off it wakes me up hmm

I think I'm giving up, nothing is working. I lie in bed and there's a million things I want to be up doing and I'm wide awake and full of energy. I think I'm just giving in to it and not going to bed until I'm actually unable to stand anymore.

If my sleeping hours are 5 AM through 12 AM then so be it. At least it will be good, quality sleep.

Sorry you didn't sleep again, dude.

I got home for lunch and my wife is livid. I mean, she is P I S S E D.

Her boss (not the branch president) sent out a branch-wide email harping on dress code again. She was going on and on about how even customers are starting to notice (which is a load of crap) and how after Labor day, she expects everyone to step it up a notch. She expects all that gals to be in jackets and even added a comment about now a nice jacket can "hide things".

The gals all look nice there. No one is under dressing. Granted, they are not in pin striped business suits, but this is a rural area, if everyone was dressed like that customers would walk in and wonder who died.

THEN to top it off, her boss had to go home early for lunch but wouldn't tell anyone why. One lady knew why . . . Today is the day that the furniture she bought OUT OF TOWN is being delivered to her house. Yes, thats right, she's so worried about appearances, but yet doesn't shop local. Doesn't it look bad for the manager of a local bank to have furniture delivered to her house when we have TWO furniture stores right here in town?

Wow. She won't last long. Or if she does she'll be finding herself dealing with a lot of turnover.

PUH-LEASE! Dress code harping? When the rest of the world is going all extra casual? It sticks out in my mind when people dress up, not when they dress down.

Well, the thing is that we're not talking jeans here. She even specifically said that Dockers are NOT good enough.

I think a revolt is being planned.

Dockers aren't good enough? So is this woman going to personally pay for everyone's new wardrobe?

I'm one of the very few women around my building who doesn't wear Dockers. I wear dresses and skirts, but it's just because I invested heavily in them after I lost a bunch of weight. It's sort of become a stylistic choice, plus I have tons of dress shoes. Still, I don't care what other people wear as long as its not indecent or grossly inappropriate.

Thats what they are thinking. Two of the gals are single moms. They simply can't afford $200 suits. And as my wife says: "I'm not a perfect size 10/12 like she is. I can't just order stuff out of a catalog and know it will fit. There is no store here in town that carries that dressy of stuff either."

EVERYBODY should agree to come in wearing casual clothes one day. What the hell is she gonna do?

Or everyone come in wearing really nice clothes that are 20 years out of fashion from the thrift store.

That would be too funny!

Leisure suits. Granny skirts. Anything with fringe. Poodle skirts. Nehru jackets. Oh yeah. That would make a statement.

How great would that be!

When she starts getting on people they can say "What, I dressed up with my best outfit, now you're telling me my sense of style isn't good enough for you?!?"

And you know, if EVERYONE did it she couldn't do a darn thing. It would send a message loud and clear to her.

Of course, you'd also flush out the one or two brown-nosers in the bunch who would say they were on board with the idea but then show up dressed in modern clothes to please the boss.

I had a real problem with being an instigator when I had an office job hmm.gif

True. weirdface.gif

I'm just a cross dresser though. I'm pretty tall so men's clothes almost always fit me better. If they forced me to dress within my own gender...I'd have to dump about half of my wardrobe. bleh.gif
