I like chips.

Actually, I don't like chips.  Too greasy.  BUT, I have found that I LOVE baked chips.  The potato flavor is much more pronounced in them and they're much lower in fat and calories.  In fact, an entire full sized bag of them is usually 900 calories and about 11 grams of fat!  Ordinary chips would be triple the calories and ten times the fat in a bag the same size.

Ok.  So baked chips are good.  But they're too salty.  Salt is bad for you.  It's particularly bad for you if you have high blood pressure.  Thanks to all of you I DO HAVE HIGH BLOODPRESSURE!  (OK, not thanks to ALL of you, mostly just thanks to JD, WOO, WEB & GHOST).

Today I went to buy some Baked Chips and saw they now have an unsalted brand!  YAY!   But the unsalted version is only available in the greasy, normal kind.  The baked ones (by the same company) don't have that option.

WHY!  TELL ME WHY!!!!

Why make the crappy ones a tad healthier and leave the healthier ones as they are?!?!

Now I'm stuck letting ellie lick the salt off each chip before I eat it.  I HATE when I hafta do that.  hmm.gif

Why no unsalted baked version? It seems like a no brainer.

I know some people might think that it's a taste thing, the baked may be too bland without em. But I swear, the baked have so much more flavor than the regular chips. AND I've always thought they would taste so much better if not so heavily salted.

Now who wants to call the UTZ Chip company for me and raise holy hell? Anyone? Anyone at all?

Actually it seems it would make a lot more sense to cut the salt in the baked version.  I'll have to look around here and see if they have no-salt baked ones.  If they do I'll send you a couple bags.  smile

I was asked by the authorities to no longer contact major manufacturers.  One rant too many I suppose hmm.gif

Ghost, thanks, but if you find some no need to buy em', just let me know what brand they are, I'm sure i can find them locally.  I should have asked the store if they can order unsalted Baked ones.

I'll check the UTZ website right now.  Maybe I can get some info.


It's not REALLY such a big deal.  I was mostly just using the unsalted chips story as an excuse to cause some trouble.  smile.gif

It's probably because no salt and no fat kinda makes a pointless chip. It's not a snack food that is supposed to be good for you. What would a Cheeto be if you took all the bad stuff out of it?

And exactly what else do you have to do that prevents you from calling and simply asking if they make the chips the way you want them, and if not, why haven't they thought about a low salt or unsalted type?

Try not ranting at them for once. I know it makes you feel better, but just this once try not to do it.

By the way, Utz has good products, but a lot of their products are too salty.

lol. No. It's really not that big of a deal Fuzzy. I was just having fun. My rants are just me being goofy. I don't eat enough baked chips to make it worth getting upset over. If I buy a bag every two or three weeks that's a lot.

I just saw the unsalted ones at the store and thought it strange that they only offered it on the greasy version.

On the drive home I was already formulating a way I could post it while simultaneously throwing Woo, Web, Sandy & JD under the bus. THAT'S where I get my REAL enjoyment in life nod.gif
