Maybe not. But we are only one game behind you this year. Plus, we have spent considerable time at the top this year. That is more than they did last year. I know it'll be a fight to the finish. The weekend should be interesting. The sad thing is, whoever doesn't win the division will not make the playoffs. Unless we can keep everyone else down and the Brewers collapse.

It'll be a fun race....but I just can't bring myself to root for the Phillies, even though I did live in the Philly area for 16 years....Once a Mets fan, always a Mets fan...just like you Philly Pholks.....
Ugh. This team scares me so much. For all our talent we have two glaring weaknesses. A shaky bullpen and a couple guys that don't know how to field a baseball.
Last night it was Rickie "never met a routine play I can't screw up" Weeks that fumbled the game away. The night before it was Eric "Show me a fire and I'll throw gas on it" Gagne that let Carlos Delgado put one over the fence to destroy our chances.
Hey I know all too much about the weak bullpen.....how many games have the blown...too many to count...even when Wagner is healthy...he's been shakey this year.....I thingk he as 4-5 blown saves.....I've said from day one that the big weakness on the Mets was the bullpen (including Wagner)
I thought Ayala might get beat last night, but he got Weeks swinging. I'll tell ya, I hope we're done with Weeks after this year. The guy just can't field and can't put the ball in play consistently.
For some reason our system has always developed horrible fielders and high-strikeout guys. It's been that way for 20 years.
Braun was the worst fielding third basemen I've ever seen. Weeks is the worst fielding player period. Fielder can't even field first base very well! (FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, HIS NAME IS FIELDER!)
Most of our prospects have the exact same tag on them too. Matt Gamel, great bat, horrible defensively. Matt LaPorta before we shipped him, HUGE power, a liability defensively.
Maybe we need to change something in the way we draft or the way we teach at the lowest levels of the minors.
