books on tape/cd

Well now that I take E to school, I am in the car for an hour every morning. My MP3 player and the radio can only entertain me so much, so I finally got my first cd book on tape. It is a Nicholas Spark story. I found myself wanting to go to my car though last night! I almost need to get the book at the same time, so if I am not in my car, I can keep reading! Anyone else feel that way? I am enjoying it though and I am hooked!

I am gonna cancel Netflix this month too. The library, which is free and my Erewards from blockbuster will make netflix too much for me. I find that I am not watching the movies so much anymore and it seems like a waste of money!

there's a rumor going around that certain departments in this company may have to move to the other plant, which is about 45 minutes away. that would piss me off completely if I had to do that. I wonder if I would if push came to shove. but the only way I could see to gain value from that would be to certainly do books on cd for the drive.

I have never got an audio book but I tend to tune out. I think when it comes to books I need to actually read them. I already have to read a page a few times to grasp sometimes.

I thought I would tune out too Woo. I can't listen to it with E in the car cause I keep telling her to hush! But really the 50 minutes it takes me to get here after I drop off have been flying by! I just am not ready to stop the story sometimes!

When I did the courier route I loved renting books on tape from the library.

I'm like you Woo, I can read a page and then at the end realize I didn't really pay attention to what I read so I'll have to reread it.

But the books on tape seemed to work pretty well for me.  It's just like listening to talk radio really.

If you're interested, check out audible.com

But, use audible.com/twit and you get a free book. You have to sign up and give a credit card number to get it, but you can cancel the account after that and keep the book.

A nice thing about Audible is that they let you put the books on most mp3 players, your computer and I think CD too. I can listen to them on my smartphone.

The $15.00/month membership gives you one free book/month. I was a member for about 6 months or so and then stopped it, but it worked very well and I enjoyed the books I got.

I don't know I still think I need the real thing. I understand the driving part- I even zone then. I have missed my turn before no.gif

I know I couldn't do it at home though. If I'm not holding that book, I'll probably be on the computer- lol

speaking of books-

I read a good one over the weekend. Actually in 2 days. It was very quick!

The Quickie by James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge

Lots of twists in turns in that one

Lauren Stillwell is not your average damsel in distress. When she discovers her husband leaving a hotel with another woman, she decides to beat him at his own game. But her revenge goes dangerously awry, and she finds her world spiraling into a hell that becomes more terrifying by the hour.
In a further twist of fate, Lauren must take on a job that threatens everything she stands for. Now, she's paralyzed by a deadly secret that could tear her life apart. With her job and marriage on the line, Lauren's desire for retribution becomes a lethal inferno as she fights to save her livelihood--and her life.
Patterson takes us on a twisting roller-coaster ride of thrills in his most gripping novel yet. This story of love, lust and dangerous secrets will have readers' hearts pounding to the very last page.

That sounds like a good one.  Maybe I'll add it to my list when I'm done with the Twilight series.

Ruby, check with your library.  Our's carry a lot of books on tape that are also in hardcover or paperback.  I've never listened to a book on tape....I prefer having the actual book in my hand....but if I had a long commute, I'd definitely give them a try.  smile
