Can You Sing Well?

I know Dylan sings with his band- Sparky you do Elvis at kareoke? How about anyone else? Can you hold a tune at all, ever sing in public?

Me? I'm about as tone deaf as they get. no.gif

Generally, NO, I don't sing well.

I can sing "ok" in "my range" but its very limited. My natural voice is a B and I can do ok around there, but much higher or lower than that and its not good.

I can hear it and I can hear where I should be, but just can't make my voice go there.

The voice is the only instrument you have to build as you go.  Web, if you can hear the note, you can get there.  Sometimes it just means working at it.

JD, I have seen very few people who were actually tone deaf.  Again, just takes time to train the ear.

Yeah I can sing.....1st and 2nd Soprano and 1st and 2nd Alto.  I sang for 6 years back when I was in school....jr. high and high school.  I also sang in the choir at church.  When I was in high school, I won a full scholarship to attend Juilliard, but I didn't go.  I wanted to take a year off in between high school and college.  Now I kick myself in the butt for not going.  It's the only regret I have in my life.

Yeah, walking away from a full scholarship to any college or university is a big decision.

Yeah, it was a really hard one to make at the time.  I was suffering major burn out during my last year of high school, but had worked so hard to earn that scholarship.  It was very difficult for me to give it up, yet I knew deep down inside that I needed a break from school.

Now I wonder those famous words "what if."

Although I always relish an opportunity to goad Sandy, no Ruby, I wasn't.

I had a running joke with Dylan when we worked together in the 90's.  I would sing along to the radio, badly, and when he'd sarcastically tell me what a great voice I had I would tell him the story of my turning down the Four Tops offer to tour with them.

That was usually followed with him making some commen about the four big tops and a traveling circus.  hmm.gif

Nope.  I took my year off, then got a job working at John Han**** Life Insurance, worked my way up to Assistant Office Supervisor while there, got laid off due to company consolidation; worked as an accountant, got married, had my kids, went to work in the school system and been in that system ever since.

I don't recall including the word "almost" in my comment evileye.gif But I'm sure that was just an oversight on your part.

Yes, Brewers lost again. If they don't hit a home run they don't hit the ball. This team is in trouble. I have to call Ned tomorrow and ask him if it's ok to worry yet.

omfg.gif NO! I go through at least one set of speakers in my truck every year cuz I turn the music up so I don't have to hear me sing along with the stereo. I couldn't carry a tune if it had handles!!! no.gif

Not an oversight at all.  smile  ALWAYS kind to me is kinda stretching the truth just a tad.  I seem to recall your Happy Bunny post.  Does this look familiar?:3874-HappyBunnyKiss.jpg

I got a kick out of a radio station here.  They were playing Paul McCartney and Wings...with only Linda McCartney's vocals.  She wasnt in the band for her singing.  biggrin

If they really wanted to torture the folks in Gitmo, they would force them to listen to my singing... I'm pretty sure it's bad enough to kill someone.

Actual conversation while driving in my car:

Pambo: Hey, who sings this song?

Mema: Rob Thomas

Pambo: Why don't you leave it to him then? I'm pretty sure he can handle it.

I was on a first date one time years ago.  This girl had a voice to induce suicide.  Her favorite song came on and she was rockin' out.  I wasnt sure if she was kidding or just that heinous.  Yes, she was that heinous.  And no, she wasnt cute enough to ever endure that ever ever again.
