What a horrible weekend in Brewer baseball

We roll into Philadelphia with a four game wild card lead.

Fuzzies Phillies kick are butts (congrats Philly) in four straight and we end the weekend tied for the wildcard.

Now to add injury to insult Carlos Zambrano of the Chicago Cubs is about to throw a no hitter in MILLER PARK!  Hurricane Ike moved the Cubs / Astro's series to Miller Park.

How much you think those obnoxious Cubs fans will love having the only no-hitter ever thrown in Miller Park?

Iy yi yi.

Poor JR. Rough weekend for you huh? I'll tell ya. Sure didn't think the Phils would get all four games. I was hoping for three. We know that a sweep is hard. But to get a four game sweep that includes a day-night double header was huge. And two of our pitchers went on three days rest. Hopefully, that will help push the Phils past the Mets in the next two weeks. They are one game out now. Although, it is two in the loss column. mets play tonight and the Phillies are off. Another division title this season would be great. After falling into last year's title, people would have to believe that the Phillies earned this one.

When the 8th inning of game three happened, then I knew the Phils were a team that was fired up and they were going to come out swinging in game four. Tell me, have you officially given up on the Brewers? Or are you going to wait until the Cubs series is complete? What did Yost have to say for himself? How about the team?

Sorry to see the Cubs throw the first ho hitter at Miller Park. But is was nice that maybe they can help stop the momentum of the Astros. Whoever else is playing the Astros the next two weeks has to beat up on them.

Phillies rock!

I've barely read the papers Fuzzy. You can not believe how depressed this whole weekend made me. Heck I can't believe how depressed it made me.

I've waited it seems like my whole life for the Brewers to go to the playoffs again and two weeks ago it seemed like a sure thing. Now the odds are against us. I'm just hoping for a miracle at this point. hmm.gif

I think watching Carlos Zambrano pitch that no hitter in our park while we weren't even there was the real capper. It was like a knife in the heart.

It's ironic that this skid started the day after the Brewers bitched and moaned about CC Sabathia being robbed of a no hitter. Maybe they'll serve as bookends and the team will start playing better again tomorrow.

Our last three important series since the all-star break (Cubs, Mets and Phillies) we were 0 - 11. That's excusable.

My hats off to you though. Your team played like a team that wants it. They put their boot on our throats early in every game and never let us up off the ground. The way a championship team SHOULD play.

If you guys advance to the playoffs without us you'll be the team I'm rooting for.

I am still glad they didn't have to face CC. A four game set and we miss him. The chances of that really had to be slim.

Yeah. Some Brewer fans are up in arms over why Yost didn't pitch him the final game.

There is no more important series than this one was. Every game counted as two. If we'd have won the last one we'd have a two game lead on you instead of being even. So putting CC in there would have made sense.

BUT, CC himself said in his entire career he's never pitched on short rest, so who knows, he might have pitched and gotten shelled.

And to think we had two pitchers go on three days rest. You certainly wouldn't have noticed it. Myers looked good last night. Now the Phils have to keep rolling along.

I think when ol' Ned Flanders gets back to his office at Miller Park on Friday morning he can start packing up his things.

So at least SOMETHING good should come of all this.

He really got burned in the 8th inning of the third game. You bring in a guy to pitch to the two left handers and really get nothing out of it. Utley sacrafices and they intentionally walk Howard. I guess I can see that. Then it looks as if they are going to bring Gagne in. But knowing how he has blown it in the past must have made Yost rethink it and take his chances against Burrell. After all, Burrell has been struggling. He came through and that was huge for the Phils. Then we got lucky when Victorino put one out. He doesn't do that too often. After that homerun I felt like the series should belong to the Phils. They just had the momentum and the ball was bouncing their way.
