RE: Monday

My work day, part 2 1/2:

So we decided to tell her that we'll burn a CD and give it to Jackass. That way he has to talk to one of our owners directly about the bill.

She replied, "I understand." She also mentioned that his voicemail is full. So I'm pretty sure she knows what's going on.

I'm home for lunch now.

I got the computer put in for the secretary. Now, the problems will begin.

Here's an example . . . She was checking things out and she opened Word. Within just a few seconds:

Her: Where's the measurement thing?
Me: What measurement thing are you looking for?
Her: The thing thats usually right there (points at the Word toolbar) that shows a percentage like a zoom
Me: Oh, Uh, I dunno. Maybe Its a tool bar feature that you have to enable. I don't use Word so I don't know it that well.
Her: Well, it was on the old computer, why isn't it on this one?
Me: Well, this is a fresh install of Office, If you made your own settings to the toolbars, those will have to be reset again
Her: I hope I can find that, I need that percent thing.

I expect many more such "problems" will surface as time goes on.

If she's really talking about the zoom, and it's Office 2007, it's in the lower right hand corner.

Hi everyone.  I woke up with a sore throat, cough, and stuffy nose; I feel like I've been hit by a Mac truck.  Took some o.t.c. meds before I left for work, and again at noon, now I feel like I just wanna go to sleep for the rest of the day.  yawn

It finally stopped raining here but it's only in the low 60s.  I think summer is over around these parts.  hmm

Saturday she said they were having some car problems and she had to go pick up her husband because his car broke down.

I'd be willing to bet that Woo is powerless*.

As in, without electricity.  I'm sure she can still stake a vampire, no problem.

Hey all. I feel powerless but I have electricity. I'm just in a funk. The problem with the car is much more extensive then we thought. It is indeed a dealer-only item. Originally thinking it was just the radiator hose to finding out that it is metal and that it runs all along the car for the heating unit. This is not something that my husband can fix. This is gonna hurt us big time. We don't know prices yet because my husband had plans today and the guy he deals with will be off tomorrow. As it stands on what we are thinking, we will have to not pay someone in order to fix this. hmm We are 1 and half payments away from owning this stupid car. We are not sure if we are gonna fix it or park it for awhile. But the last thing we need to be doing is using this truck with high gas prices. it's just depressing.

Sorry Woo!! cry  Even though it costs more for gas in the truck, it might be worth the extra for gas compared to fixing the car right now, at least until you're better able to afford the car repair.

Too bad you don't live here in Saginaw.....I'd be willing to bet my husband could fix it for you a heck of a lot cheaper than the dealer.  He's a whiz when it comes to car repairs.  I might talk smack about him every now and then, but the man knows his stuff when it comes to cars.

That sucks Woo. I know you guys are tight on cash to begin with. Having a major car repair pop up out of nowhere is always a budget buster. hmm.gif

It really does suck. I know it's life but the problems do get tiresome. We will have to see what his buddy at Tuffy can do. He always cuts him breaks and tells him how it is. I'm sure the part will have to be ordered from the dealer though.

Oh and because I needed a ride home, I am now stuck going to dinner with my sister, niece and my mother. It might be fine but when I feel like this, I don't feel like being sociable. At least it is a restaurant by my place though. I won't get dragged all over.

Woo... if it's a dealer only part, you might still be able to buy it direct from them and just pay someone to install it. The reason "dealer only" parts are so expensive in most cases is that unless you are having your car repaired by the dealer, you end up paying a hefty mark up. Most non-dealer shops will charge anywhere from 50-100% markup on the part itself because their labor rate is lower than the dealerships.

I don't know much about this type of stuff, but what about getting the part from a junkyard?

That was going to be my other suggestion to Woo.....sometimes you can get good parts at a junkyard that will last for years.

that was actually brought up today but both my hubby and one of the other guys here said that it would most likely have the same issues and if were going to have to pay someone else for labor we might as well do it right.

I just remembered that I am scheduled for jury duty next TH/FRI. I hope I don't have to go. That will cause issues with the whole one car issue. Not to mention that I really don't want to have to take that truck into a parking garage.

Sorry everyone is having a bad day. I am just having a BLAH day. Bud JD, I did wake to the coffee pot brewing at 7 am, and I did roll over and go back to sleep for three hours. It felt wonderful at the time, but now, I can't even seem to get anything done. It's too hot. 117 forecast for today.

If it is a heater hose, I would think junkyard parts would be a dicey proposition at best. Junkyards are great for getting engines, transmissions, other drive train parts, body panels... stuff like that.

My day at work, part 3:

I just had a coworker come in and ask, "Do you have my mouse?"

I told her that the cat probably took it.
