Another crazy PETA idea?

I am not sure why this grosses me out. I will drink soymilk- milk from a bean- or cow's milk... but this sounds bleh

WATERBURY, Vt. -- People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals sent a letter to Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, cofounders of Ben & Jerry's Homemade Inc., urging them to replace cow's milk they use in their ice cream products with human breast milk, according to a statement recently released by a PETA spokeswoman."PETA's request comes in the wake of news reports that a Swiss restaurant owner will begin purchasing breast milk from nursing mothers and substituting breast milk for 75 percent of the cow's milk in the food he serves," the statement says.PETA officials say a move to human breast milk would lessen the suffering of dairy cows and their babies on factory farms and benefit human health."The fact that human adults consume huge quantities of dairy products made from milk that was meant for a baby cow just doesn't make sense," says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. "Everyone knows that 'the breast is best,' so Ben & Jerry's could do consumers and cows a big favor by making the switch to breast milk."

I saw a PETA representative on MSNBC once and she admitted they know their tactics are over the top and offensive, but it gets their word out without huge advertising costs. They know the news media and eventually word of mouth will do their job for them.

Now every time I see a story like this I just feel played.

Hmmm, and who is going to be screening all this breast milk for HIV or AIDS before it goes into the ice cream?  There's something for that Swiss restaurant owner to think about before he starts serving it as a milk substitute to his customers.

Uh, excuse me PETA people . . . .

If you put diary cows out of the milk production job force, what do you think will happen to those cows?

Thats right, they will be of no use to diary farmers and thus ground into little bits for dog food and hamburger.

Yeah... I'm thinkin' PETA didn't really think that one through. One would have to drive up production in order to make that effective... which would lead to lots of other issue. They come off as more than merely "over the top" and "offensive"... downright moronic, immoral, and psychotic is more like it.

I'm all about be good to the animals. I used to do in-home foster care for NSPA. These freaks are just way out of control.
