HUTCHINSON, Kansas, September 24, 2008 (AP) - A 63-year-old Hutchinson man with at least 10 prior drunk driving convictions is facing yet another DUI charge.
Hayden Hitch**** was charged Monday with felony DUI for allegedly driving his mo-ped while drunk when the two-wheeler crashed into a car on June 2. Prosecutors say Hitch****'s blood-alcohol level was 0.14 percent.
At the time of the crash, Hitch**** was on parole from a one-year sentence for plowing into a set of fuel pumps on Dec. 23, 2007, and setting them ablaze.
Magistrate Randall McEwen denied Hitch****'s request to lower his $15,000 bond.
A mo-ped? Really?

We had a guy here who had 30+ DUI's and kept beating the system. He was known as Mr. DUI. He died last year in a house fire when he passed out in his recliner and dropped his cigarette.

I can understand once, maybe twice, making a mistake. But only if there is no one else involved. But to constantly destroy property or interfere with other people's lives, that needs to be stopped.
Okay, so maybe I am a bit biased since early March. I never agreed with friends drinking to stupidity and then driving. I don't have a problem dropping them off or giving them the spare bedroom for the night. My views haven't changed especially since I was hit by a drunk driver in my brand new car. The kid is 24. And I am going to make sure he never does it again.

Even dumber in my book. Its hard enough to be on two wheels sober, let alone loaded.
I think the laws in Kansas are far too lenient on repeat DUI offenders. I had a good friend who I met when both of our husbands were in alcohol abuse treatment. At the time I met Angela, her husband was on his 4th or 5th DUI. At worst that clown did a week or two in jail up to that point. They split up shortly thereafter, and he ended up getting another DUI and finally ended up in jail for 6 months. He got out and resumed his ways. While he was locked up, she died as a result of a bad prescription drug interaction. It's just not right, but if you have a good lawyer you can get away with it.

I lost track of the drunken jay-walking guy. He was the son of a neighbor I lived by a long time ago. That kid lost his license several times, but it didn't seem to matter because he always got it back eventually. It was a true wonder that clown hadn't killed anyone yet back when I knew him.
I was coming home from school one night and saw him out in the driveway trying to put a cover over his obviously mangled car that he had just bought a couple weeks before. There were 5 cop cars around his house. I just drove on by, went in the house and told Kev that dude was getting busted AGAIN. Kev got the story the next day: apparently dude was so hammered that when he when hauling it into the driveway at home, he hit the truck that was parked there... with enough force to shove it through the garage door into the boat in the garage, and ultimately shoved that boat into the back wall of the garage. Right about then it occurred to him that his folks had neither a truck nor a boat. He was at the house one street over from where he actually lived. Managed to get the car home, which is when I came upon the scene.
