A couple of years back Harley Davidson had their big 100th anniversary here in Milwaukee. The entertainers for the last day's show was to be kept secret until they hit the stage. One of the acts was Kid Rock, and all I heard was people complaining at how foul mouthed he was, and some actually asked the sherrifs to go up there and toss him off stage.

(On a side note, the BIG act turned out to be Elton John......at a biker rally.....)

I completely agree with you Trish both on the fate of the officer and on how celebs get a free pass because of who they are.   You hear on the news here quite often about either a Titan or a country music star getting arrested for DUI.  What really gets me is that these people make millions and could easily afford to hire a limo for the night if they want to go out partying rather than driving their own vehicle and putting others at risk.  Then, when they do get caught, they have the money to hire the best attorneys who always find a technicality or use behind the scenes influence to get the DUI charge dropped.

Steve McNair of the Titans got caught last summer but managed to hire a good enough attorney who drug the case out for 6 months until he finally got the charge dismissed because the judge decided the officer who pulled him over was out to get McNair and did not have sufficient reason to pull him over even though all evidence still pointed to him being guilty.  I'll give credit to Wynonna - she was arrested here for DUI a few months ago and she immediately plead guilty and apologized for her behavior rather than trying to find a way to get out of it.

That's because Wynona has something not many of the stars and athletes have now.  It's called class.  She shouldn't have done it and she admits it, that says she has class. 

I think American society as a whole has a problem with accountability for ones actions.  I'm trying so hard to teach my son that right now.  Everything you do has consequences.  Spill hot coffee on yourself at McDonalds, you're a klutz, end of story.  Don't sue the company because your coffee was hot.  How idiotic is that?  Look at Leonard Little of the Rams.  He drove drunk, hit and killed a woman.  He's still playing ball because he hired a great attorney that got him off with little more than a slap on the wrist.  He was arrested recently for driving drunk again.  Guess that high priced attorney didn't tell him he shouldn't do it again.  This is something that really makes me angry.  I mentioned one of my dad's phrases in the other post and here is another one of his gems "You only get as much justice as you can afford."  That burns me to no end, because it's true.

My son had a science fair project that I kept bugging him about.  I kept asking when it was due and he said he didn't know.  Finally, Monday night he told us it was due Wednesday morning.  I was so angry.  I have tried for weeks to get him motivated on this.  We stayed up until 12:40 a.m. Wednesday morning getting this done because he had a basketball game Monday night (I have to get up at 3:30 a.m. to go to work).  I told him that if it happens again, he was going to take the F and he was off the team.  His answer was the team would suffer because they only have 6 kids on the team and without him they wouldn't have a sub if anyone got hurt.  Consequences of ones actions.  What you do affects everyone around you.  I think people conveniently forget this or just choose not to care.  He ended up getting a C+ on the project and was dang lucky to get that. 

Phew!  I guess I should have put this in the shout box, because it is kinda heated.  Sorry to vent, but this is really a hot button issue with me.  I'll shut up now.
