I HATED IT but NOW I LOVE IT

HEY!

This might be a fun thread- not restricted to just music either! Name something-a song, a food, a place etc... that you used to hate, but now love- and why!

I used to really hate Yes's "Owner of a Lonely Heart". I just could not understand the appeal of that song or the wierd video that went along with it back when it was huge 1984-5 I think. Then I heard it maybe 3 weeks ago for the first time in a long time, and I was blown away by the musical expertise of that song.

I also used to hate pizza when I was a kid. Too tomato-y. But then I liked it in highschool. And I did not like mac and cheese until college!

Mine is probably cheese, when I was a kid I couldn't stand the stuff, but I love it now.

I used to hate Miracle Whip, or mayo. I just couldn't get past the smell and the texture. Now a chicken sandwhich has to be extra mayo.

OH MAN I ate so much top ramen back in college, I don't think I could ever eat that EVER AGAIN! LOL. A real treat was when I could afford a 99 cent bag of frozen veggies to mix in with the 5 bags of ramen! lunch for the week!

You guys are probably going to think I'm sick, but I love ramen noodles with Russian dressing on them.  Put them over some lettuce and mix in some Russian dressing and it's awesome.  My mom used to eat them that way and I thought it was so gross until I tried it.

I'm amazed that I was brave enough to try it, though.  She's German and some of the stuff she would eat...yuck.  Bone marrow soup, herrings, and this glop of stuff with herrings, boiled eggs and spices in a gelled thing (kinda like clear jello).  Just to be clear, she didn't eat those all at once, but even one at a time was disgusting.

I often thought about being the ramen noodle spokesmodel. I swear that must be every bachelors diet thru school. I figure if Jerod can do it for Subway why not?

I hated Tom Petty's "Free Fallin" for the longest time.

Same goes for Nirvana's "Smells like Teen Spirit".

Then last year I guess I started to appreciate both of them, and now I love the songs.

Prince's WHEN DOVES CRY, U2's WITH OR WITHOUT YOU, and Pumpkin Pie.

All things I hated 15 years ago and like today.

Orinoco Flow by Enya.  I never liked that song until we were driving on US1 between Melbourne and Cape Canaveral Florida.  The song came on and we're driving with ocean and palm trees right there and the song made sense to me.  The next time I heard it was about two months later back in Indiana far from the ocean.  But that song took me back immediately.  Now it has become one of those cherished songs.
