I've been staying pretty busy, which is a good thing. I just check in once or twice a day right now.
I wanted to tell you, I was reading in the local paper today that the place where Dylan practiced once a week for the last five years or so is supposedly quite haunted thanks to an actor and a stagehand both dying at the location!
He switched places now, because they were trying to raise the rates. I wish I'd known of the stuff before he stopped using them, I could have gone out there and done some searching while they practiced!
It was the Sunset Playhouse in Waukesha. Apparantly a couple local ghost hunting groups have done several investigations there and got some great things on tape, including a misty image of the dead actor!
Wow!!! Too bad you didn't know about it earlier; it could have been the first ghost hunting trip for someone here on the forum. Dang, wish you could have gotten in there with Dylan!!
I sent in a few resumes last week. I'm still being very choosy about what I go after right now.
If I don't find something before the new year it won't break my heart. I've been doing some internet sales (import CD's and other crap) that's bringing in some money, and with what I still have saved, I'm just not in a real rush to take just anything.
There were two that I was actually pretty interested in last week, so I mailed in resume's and we'll see.
I'm hearing all kinds of rumors where I work right now. People are saying the school board is looking to cut employees by one-half, beginning with part-timers (which is me) and cuts may be starting the end of November. Have also heard it may not be until the first of the year. Also heard on Friday that it will only be in certain departments; others are saying it's going to be in all departments except teachers.
Not sure what's going on right now, and I'm really not worrying about it until I know for sure what's coming down. Lots of people talking, but that doesn't mean a whole lot either. We'll see what happens when it happens.
Yikes, that's bad news Ghost. But hopefully you'll come out of it ok and keep your job.
This is NOT a good time to look for work. With the year coming to a close I think a lot of companies put off hiring new people.
It's been more difficult for me too because I'm basically switching careers. For the last 12 years I ran a commercial cleaning business, but really have no desire to stay in that field even on a supervisory level.
I would prefer to switch to something that I feel like I can do until I retire now, but I"m not entirely sure what that is. At least I have the luxury of taking my time and finding someone I want to do, instead of having to take whatever I can get.
If I haven't found something by the new year I may just go back to running some kind of courier route on second shift so I can keep looking and interviewing for something better during the days.
There are times I wish I was a lot younger and just starting out in a career; I think I would go in an entirely different direction than I chose the first time around. I'm too old now to change direction.
It's great that you're able to take your time and look for what you'd really like to do. A lot of people right now don't have that option.....they have to take what's out there just to stay above water.
