JD... I'm generally not this far ahead of the game. Believe me when I tell you I'm usually shopping until Christmas Eve. I just know this Thanksgiving is going to be a bit unusual time wise since Pambo is having surgery Monday of that week. Instead of spending that day cooking, I will be with her at the hospital. I'm just adjusting where I can so I can make it work.

Ghost - Pig snout is used in some Mexican dishes too. I'm not entirely sure which, but I had a friend (rest her soul) who used to cook with it. I don't have a clue what the application would be for duck head, but then again I can't explain why anyone would eat head cheese either. bleh.gif

I hear ya mama. so many years I used the pressure of "its christmas eve day....I will take THAT THAT AND THAT I HAVE NO CHOICE." I'm trying to operate in that happy mid ground of not having the shopping done by july, but not rushing around the last few days either. and certainly not going out on that godforsaken day after thanksgiving either.....bleh.gif

I have done the doorbuster sales before. The only time it worked out for me was about 6 years ago and I happened to be in Granbury, TX. That is a small town, so getting doorbuster deals was easy. I tried to go to one in my town the next year, and it was a nightmare. I found out later that to get the deal at Best Buy I would have had to have arrived at about 2AM. I'm not willing to do that. By time my Thanksgiving dinner is cleaned up, I am in a serious world of hurt and exhaustion. I have no interest in getting up all crazy early to freeze my butt off to just have a chance to maybe save a few bucks. Most of the time they only have a few of the super good priced items so it is not a guarantee you will get one even if you do go well before the stank booty crack of dawn. doh.gif

Ghost - I have seen what head cheese looks like. You would have to get me REALLY drunk and pay me a whole lot of money to even smell that stuff. Your dad must be one brave hombre. I curtsey to him.

The worst stuff he eats is Limburger cheese!!  OMG does that stuff stink to high heaven!!!! blehblehdoh I can't even imagine what it must taste like. Nasty, nasty smelling stuff.  The whole refrigerator smells like it, even if he puts it in a container.

I've only heard the legend of Limburger cheese. I've never even seen it for sale. Again, I stand in awe.

laughing.gif I'm thinking that is a very wise move on your part. My dad kept it pretty bland because he had a lot of stomach problems. About as exotic as food got in my home growing up was tacos.
