I didn't realize it, but SAG went back to work without a new contract earlier this year and now they are back at a stale-mate and urging another strike!
Can the TV industry actually be stupid enough to shoot itself in the foot a second year in a row? I bet they can be
A few days ago I was reading how the ratings since the strike are way down. I know this year I haven't stayed loyal TO ANY shows. I figure the ones I like I'll just buy on DVD when they get released.
Soon the TV industry will be in the same toilet with the record industry because of their own stubborn refusal to adjust to a new world. Sad.
Since I cancelled my satellite tv a few months ago, I have no choice but to watch network tv. Man, there isn't much on!! I really miss watching all the old movies on TCM. I might start my subscription to satellite back up in January....winter is way too long with nothing good to watch on tv at night.
Ghost, have you checked out Netflix? You might even be able to hook the computer up to the TV and watch a lot of the same stuff you used to watch on satellite without having to wait for the disk to come in the mail.
I've been annoyed because the season DVD sets of some of my favorite shows are only 16 episodes this year because of the strike, yet the price is the same as if it were a full season!
Over the past few years the networks willingness to cancel shows so quickly has made me invest in fewer and fewer each season. Now with the last strike I find I'm watching almost no TV.
This is probably just what I need to give up on it completely and go to strictly watching DVD's.
